Hi
First of all I'd like to say how impressed I am with geany. I ran it and it
went KAPOW!! I've been using emacs for the past 7 years. Every once in
while i try to break away and use something more modern like anjuta or
codeblocks but I always revert to emacs. I've been using geany for a week
now. So far no emacs =)
Anyways I saw a request for code navigation and I wanted it myself so I
hacked up back and forward buttons. Right now, it only changes the history
when you go to a definition or declaration from the context menu, but I'm
open to suggestions on this. Also, if the file is no longer open, it
removes it from the queue and goes nowhere.
If anyone is interested I'd be willing to polish this off and submit it for
entry into geany.

Dear list,
When selecting all text in a document using CTRL-A, it's currently
impossible to deselect it using the mouse. All actions are considered as
'move' instead of using a single left-click as 'place cursor here' command.
Configuration error or should I file a bug report/feature request?
Cheers!

Dear Developers,
How about one simple feature request:
Add to file menu "Save copy as..."
This used to be common on many Mac IDEs. Very useful e.g. when editing
a system file,
when you want to save an original.
Faithful geany user.
Hello World, hello Enrico,
Geany 0.11svn_r1456 (Windows) does not recognize files that have the
file extension in capital (or mixed) letters, for example, the file
foo.pas is recognized, but bar.PAS is not (and bar.Pas neither).
Windows is not case sensitive (but case preserving), so it does not
matter whether capital or small letters are used.
Thinking about it: Does it matter for GCC how the file extension is
written (.cc, .CC, .cpp, .CPP)?
Best regards
Andreas

Hello!
Another useful idea for me.
Currently in geany Compile, Build and Execute commands are associated with
file types and have two nice, additional variables (%f and %e). It would
be very useful to add one more variable that would stand as project base
directory (i.e. %p).
This could bring problems in case when project is not open. To resolve that
it could be interesting to add certain project properties: compile, build and
run that would overwrite default ones. Currently there is a similar
"override" run option, but it does not provide %f, %e and possibly %p
variables.
I would be very happy if you could add compile and build project options,
providing also project base directory variable (i.e. %p).
Thanks in advance for answers.

Something that I use Geany for besides python is editing wiki pages. It
would be nice if someone could point me toward how to start syntax
highlighting for wiki syntax (for example, Kate in KDE does this for
wikipedia via xml file). I'd love to contribute this...can anyone wind
me up and point me in the right direction?
BTW, Geany is now available to Foresight Linux users :) I packaged it
up a few days ago.

Hi Enrico, Nick and all
Is there a plan to bump geany's version number to 1.0 in the near future?
I use geany daily and can't think of any reason the program should not
be considered finished or production quality.
Not that the issue is terribly important, of course.
Bye
Tim
Hello World, hello Enrico,
I've noticed that under Windows in the Preferences -> Tools the edit
control for make is disabled. Why is that?
Best regards

Hi,
Geany 0.11 has been released.
There have been many changes since Geany 0.10.2. An almost complete
list can be found on http://geany.uvena.de/Documentation/ReleaseNotes.
Some important notes for existing users:
* Tab is now used for construct completion (for, if, etc.), but it is
configurable with the new 'Complete construct' keybinding.
* Template files are now stored in ~/.geany/templates/ and the
'template.' filename prefix is no longer used. You will need to move
any custom template files you have.
* Inserting a file header is now optional for filetype templates. Use
the string '{fileheader}' to mark where the file header should be
placed.
* Drag'n'Drop of text inside the editor widget will now move the text
instead of copying it.
And the most important new feature: Project Management ;-).
We want to thank all the translators who updated and added their
translations as well as the many contributors for this release. Thank
you!
All downloads can be found as usual on
http://geany.uvena.de/http://files.uvena.de/geany/ or
https://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=153444
For Windows users:
There is a new installer based on the Nullsoft Installer and it is
available as a base installer which contains Geany with all related
files and there is a full installer which contains also a complete GTK
runtime environment. If you already have GTK installed on your system,
you should use the base installer but it won't hurt if you choose the
full installer.
Happy coding,
Enrico
