[Geany] repeated keystrokes?

I find myself typing stuff like this: title goes here =============== heading goes here ----------------- ####################### # or this # ------------------------------- # and this often enough that it would be nice to be able to tell the editor "I want you to do the next keystroke I hit 'n' times". Emacs lets me do this with Ctrl-u n (leaving off the 'n' gives you 4). Is there any way for Geany to do this? Thanks, ---John

[Geany] Feature request side panel to browse files

Hi, I've started using geany not so long ago... For some reason, geany cannot "remember" my last directory from where I've opened a file. So every time I have to go through the same /deep/deep/path/to/dir Am I missing some config here, or would it be possible to have another "tab" (Symbols|Open Files|Browser) which would list all files from my "last" directory? ------------------------------------- |Symbols|Open Files|Browse| ------------------------------------- /deep/deep/path/to/dir - 1.jsp - 2.jsp - 3.jsp So, I can open files and/or click on "URL" to go to another upper directory. -- Rgds, Kamchybek Jusupov Attitude is no substitude for competence... [Geany] A few questions/requests

Hello again, as I'm translating the po file for the next release I reviewed some features and I would like to submit a few questions. - Contrary to the 0.10.2 release, it seems that the construct completion only occurs when you use the TAB key. Is there a (simple) way to revert to the old behaviour ? - When editing php files and constructions as if or for with advanced indent mode activated, the auto indentation works well except when typing the } character. For C files, the indent decreases automatically, so it matches the opening brace indentation level. This behavior is not the same for PHP files as the indentation level does not decreases. Is it possible to "fix" this ? Thanks in advance for your answers (I may have others questions as I keep translating :) )

[Geany] whitespace highlight

Hello! I have simple path for whitespace highlight. By default both whitespace background and foreground are used. This produce problems with selection highlight when combined with whitespaces and use whitespace background color to override selection background. To make selection consistent it should be possible to override only whitespace background or foreground separately. This path make it possible, by using similar thing as selection style. It uses both bold and italic variables instead of only bold. [Geany] Get Geany to use bitmap font?

Anyone know how to get Geany to use a bitmap X11 font like -Misc-Fixed-Medium-R-SemiCondensed--13-120-75-75-C-60-ISO10646-1 ? I'm using IceWM (no Gnome) with xorg. Maybe something to do with a ~/.gtkrc-2.0 file... possibly something like: === snip === style "geany" { font="-Misc-Fixed-Medium-R-SemiCondensed--13-120-75-75-C-60-ISO10646-1" } widget_class "*GtkText" style "text" === /snip === ? Though, I tried that and it didn't work. I think the right GTK docs on this might be http://www.gtk.org/tutorial/x2138.html ... Or, maybe, is there a configure option to allow it access to bitmap fonts? I didn't see one with `./configure --help` though. Thanks, ---John

[Geany] feature request: expand text view

One thing about IDE's is how much screen real estate gets taken up by various windows and toolbars. Often, when editing a single file, I wish I had more room on the screen for the text (specifically, more vertical lines displayed at once). I see that in Geany, under the View menu, I can toggle the following: * message window * toolbar and in Edit --> Prefs --> Interface tab: * Misc section, I can toggle the statusbar on and off. * Tab placement, I can shut off editor tabs. Now, what would be darn cool is if there were a menu item under View (critical: and a key combo to go with it) to allow me to toggle all four of those off in one fell swoop. I need the message window, toolbar, statusbar, and editor tabs -- just not all the time. BTW, I see that F11 maximizes the Geany window, but that feature's not useful to me. I already keep the Geany window maximized vertically, and since I can't view more than one file side-by-side, I don't have any reason to maximize it's width (besides, I like it less than max width so I can reach other windows with the mouse). ---John

[Geany] Cycle through tabs

Hello everybody. I would like to submit another feature request which I think could be useful to many :) When cycling trough file tabs with ctrl and Page Up/ Page Down, I would like to be able to switch to the first tab when I reach the last tab and press ctrl + PgDown one more time (it would be the same from the first to the last) I use this "feature" a lot in softwares like xfce-terminal and firefox and think it could save some time when you have to reach one of the firsts files you opened but you are currently editing the latests files. PS: Sorry if I'm not so understandable, I find it hard to explain with words ;)

[Geany] de-indent: possible bug, and a question

I've got Geany set to always use spaces (4 space indents). Autoindentation is on (set to "Advanced"). At the end of a block, I hit Enter and get the auto-indent, but then want to back up 4 spaces. Is there a way to delete those extra 4 spaces without having to hit my backspace key 4 times? I was hoping Shift-Tab would do it. But Shift-Tab only moves the cursor back 4 spaces, leaving those 4 extra spaces still hanging off the end. (Yes, I have Prefs --> Files tab --> "Strip trailing spaces" enabled, but still, the behaviour of Shift-Tab doesn't seem right.) I tried Shift-Ctrl-i, but that moved the cursor back only one space. This seems like a bug (I'd expect it to behave the same as Shift-Tab). ---John

[Geany] key combo for search box in toolbar?

I've got the little search field present in the toolbar. It seems to do simply case-insensitive non-regex search, which is nice. It also incrementally shows what it's finding, which is especially nice. It also leaves the search term hanging around, which can be handy. For most simple searches, this little gem works very well. Is there currently any way to get focus to move to that little search field without touching the mouse? Ctrl-f gets me the find dialog, but I'm looking for a key combo to get me to that little search box... Suggestion: Maybe Ctrl-h? (Shift-Ctrl-f is taken, 'h' is pretty close to f (find), easy to hit on the keyboard, g is taken by something else, you already get help with F1,...) Thanks, ---John

[Geany] tabulators

In the Edit --> Prefs --> Editor pane --> Features section, you use the word "tabulators" (and also again in that item's popup help). I've never heard that term. I'm guessing it's the full and proper -- but arcane -- name for "tabs". You may want to change the occurrences of that word to the more current "tabs". ---John
