[Geany] geany color sceme + debugger advice - python

Hello everybody, I've been happily using Geany for a little while now, coding mostly in Python. I have a couple questions: 1. For a dark color scheme, eg Vibrant Ink, how do i get the active line to not be highlighted. White text + white highlighting = invisible text on the line I'm trying to edit. Arrgh! 2. Any debugger advice for python? I am finding winpdb is pretty slow and actually crashes on my machine a fair amount. I'm on a windows 7 64 bit installation. Snippet completion not working + is code, minimap planned?

Hi Lex, Sorry for my late reply -- I just turned on Digest mode so it took a while to see your message. 1. I have Geany 1.23, Ubuntu 12.04. Yes, my file is .py I went into Geany and did these extra things: Turn off "Tab key indents" in Indentation, Turn on "Snippet completion" in Completions. Still, when I hit a tab key, it just inserts white spaces (sometimes 1, sometimes 4/tab). 2. What's the best way to raise interest in a feature like Code minimap? I looked at the Feature Request page on SourceForge and they seem to request mainly support for miscellaneous language. Whereas some of the slick Sublime-like features (minimap, multiple cursors, put both quotes around a highlighted word) would seem to be universally appealing. no Terminal tab in Geany preferences??

Hello Geany users, I have just installed Geany on Ubuntu and when I open the preferences I have tab General, Interface, ..., Various but after Various* I do not have the Terminal tab (see image below)*, which is what I wanted to access to paste and copy commands to the terminal to execute small pieces of code. Makefile redirction for Make Command

Hello In the Manual there is talk of Makefile redirection that is used for "out of tree" compilation. I am using Geany and have recently migrated a project that uses an Automake VPATH build(s) and now my apps will not build without the use of this Makefile redirection. Has anyone got an example of this Makefile redirection. Basically I need to fire off the makefile that now exists in my build tree. I have two versions of build tree that have different targets and use different versions of gcc so it would also be good to pass an argument that would select one of the targets. Use python virtualenvs in Geany

How can i use isolated environments in Geany? Thinking that maybe I should create this as a build command so when it compiles it executes using only virtualenv packages. Any tips on how to get this to happen? Sayth

Environment variables

Hi, I'm trying to use Geany 1.23 for cross compiling for ARM (Gnublin board) on a Kubuntu 13.10 laptop. I've installed the crosscompiler toolchain but the compiler (arm-linux-gnueabi-gcc) lives in a very odd place with a very long pathname. I've added this path to the PATH variable in .bashrc. When executed In a terminal window the cross compiler works fine. When entering the name of the compiler in the Geany build settings, it does not work. Path unknown error. After searching internet, the only working solution I found seems to be to add the PATH extension in /etc/profile and indeed this works. Must I put it In the system wide config? Is that really the one and only option? Why is .profile of .bashrc in the home directory not evaluated? I think it's kind of weird. Or am I wrong? Thanks for any advice! Egbert Jan, NL

cursor and html setting

I have 2 quick questions...first, one of my machines, my line cursor is a block instead of a thin line, but not my other machines. Is there a setting that I am missing to switch it to a thin line? Also, is there a setting or a plugin to add highlighting to a closing html tag? So if I click on or select or something an opening <div> tag, it would highlight the closing </div> tag? Just like it does for braces. Thanks!!

Is anyone running Geany on OSX?

Although I spend most of my time on Linux, I also spend some time on OSX (Mavericks). Does anyone have Geany running on OSX with a native appearance (as much as possible)? I have read information about running Geany on OSX but it seems there are several methods and people have had differing experiences.

Does Geany have any kind of syntax error awareness? For php specifically? If I leave out a ; or something, it would be awesome if I could get a little red squiggle line or something.

syntax highlighting of .rst files

Hi all I'm editing an .rst file. When I open the file in vim, there is a syntax highlighting and I like to have something similar in Geany. Currently, in geany there is no single highlighting to be seen on the screen. My system is Ubuntu 13.10, 64 bit. Geany version is 1.23.1. I have installed the geany-plugins. Thanks, Roel
