Hi group,
Just discovered a nice and simple way to refresh the browser. Just let your html file do the work. No need for add-ons/extensions.
Add this one line to the head:
<meta http-equiv="refresh" content="1" >
To which I added this comment : <!--REMOVE '1' WHEN READY, BEFORE UPLOADING !-->
The '1' stands for a 1 second refresh interval. You can of course choose the interval you prefer. With the 1 second interval the tab is blinking contnuously.. I had to cover the top part of my screen with a small piece of paper to regain calmness ;)

Thank you Lex. Wow I did not know you are a Geany developer...and that you wrote that wiki article almost 10 years ago! Hats off to you sir!
I do not know how many devs Geany has, but you must be the most patient one...dealing withusers!
I had stopped using Geany almost completely, in favor of Atom. Two things happened: 1. Atom will be euthanized on December 15 this year and 2. Geany upgraded to 1.38, which removed most of my former complaints.
I am truly gratful,
Bert

Hi group,
Linux user here.. MXLinux.
I use Geany almost only as an html-editor.
I've been using an old version of Epiphany a.k.a. Web as the live preview, because it automatically updated each time a save was made in the source code in Geany. But it was not very stable and slowed down a lot. For the moment I use Firefox as the preview engine. It's okay, but there's no auto-refresh, so I have to hit the FF refresh button after each change.
In older Geany information there was talk about a Geany html plugin that had a html preview. That plugin seems to be removed.
I found an unofficial package on the web, downloaded it, but there the joy ended: It seemed to be source code, needing compiling, something that is far beyond my knowledge. It was called "webkit-preview" or something similar.
Hope I described my situation enough and hope to read how you experts have solved this.
Gratefully!Bert

Hi all,
I've yet to detect the mechanism that causes the issue but:
- Sometimes, the Make, Build buttons and 'more make actions' dropdown
get disabled (grayed out).
- The only way (I found) to regain the buttons seems to be restart Geany.
After checking several reports on this, most of those seem to
suggest some missing tool. That's not my case. I can use the buttons
for hours, but then suddenly they remain disabled...
Any suggestions?
John
I am running Geany 1.36 under CentOS 7 and just experienced a crash of the desktop which resulted in an empty file list when I reloaded Geany...
I'd like to avoid this in the future and was thinking that I might be able to group various related files into Geany Projects which I can then open/close as needed, and, importantly, were the editor to crash, I could then simply reload the project.
In my case, files I would add to individual projects are in different directories where unrelated files also exist.
Is there a way to organize my work as outlined above? Perusing the Project Organizer page for Geany it seems that I could add subdirectories with all their files to a project which does not meet my need above.
Is there another way?
Thanks.
Hi all,
Just registered here. I really like Geany and especially since discovering the new 1.38!
For me that release is a real breakthrough, with notable increases in overall speed and startup speed. What I appreciate the most is that I can now set the auto-save time to 1 seond. IT used to be 5 seconds in older releases in my experience. Anything lower than 5 seconds created instability. Not any longer!
My question is : is there a way to change how %cusor% looks in the finished snippet?
As it is now ( e.g. <a href="_|" target="_blank" class="-">_</a>), there a "_" and thus an extra space that is not necessary or handy.
Any pointers would be much appreciated!
Kind regards,
Bert

Hi,
While reading the thread regarding "grouping text files in project", I
was curios if anyone has a solution to a problem that I am hitting every
now and then;
I have some projects (with lots of files) that are either located on a
network share, or in an encrypted vault (KDE) (or a combination of those).
Too often, I forget to open the vault, or sometimes I don't have access
to the network share - If I then open a project in Geany, it removes all
the files that are inaccessible during project load, from the project. I
then have to find them, and open them again, once they are available.
Note: the main "problem" for me, is that Geany saves the new file list
on exit, or perhaps also earlier. So quitting Geany, opening the vault
will not help, the file list is already "corrupt".
Is there a smart way of dealing with this, that I have missded? :)
Geany is without a doubt, one of the best text editors out there!
Cheers,
Micael
Greetings:
I recently upgraded to a new computer and now Geany is NOT working any more.
Previously I was editing files on my Raspberry Pi server at a local IP
address. Now I can no longer open any files on that server nor save any
files on that server.
Also when I enter data at the bottom of the Geany screen where it says
"Connect to server" nothing happens. If I enter the ip address nothing
happens but if I enter "ssh://ip address" the box turns red.
I have removed and reinstalled Geany several times to no avail for my
problem.
Any ideas on how I can fix this problem?
Thanks,
Gerald Brown
