Hi,
It seems there's no way to start geany to open a file in a "read-only"
mode.
Would it be a lot of work to add such a command line option? Don't
bother if it is. :-)

I am using Geany 0.18 from Ubuntu Lucid repos. How can I change the
wrapped lines character's color?
Attached is a screen shot of the character I wanna change its color.
Thank you

Hi all,
Just a quick mail to let everyone know we're planning to make a Geany
0.19 release once everything is ready. We're thinking of early June but
this may change ;-)
So if anyone wants to help test the SVN version, now's a good time to
do so:
http://www.geany.org/Download/SVN
That link also has nightly tarballs and some binaries too. The SVN
version may be buggy and as always there are no guarantees, but
IME it's quite stable (I use it every day). Backup your data.
For plugin developers, it would be great if you can test your plugin
against Geany SVN trunk and update it if necessary.
Regards,
Nick
Hi all,
can I set the key bindings for certain snippet? For example, when I
press Ctrl+B selected text wrapped with tag <strong>, and when I press
Ctrl+Alt+1 with tag <h1> etc.
Thanks.

is it possible because of openssl 1.0 or nautilus ... gedit is ok but i
cant use geany to edit files over sftp.
Linux archlinux 2.6.33-ARC
OpenSSL 1.0.0 29 Mar 2010
I have same distro on my desktop pc with openssl 0.9.8 and everything is ok.
Thanks..
I've recently installed Geany, but the "open with geany" option isn't there when I right click my files.
Things I've tried to fix it:
- Reinstalling Geany, ---the obvious first step---
- Uninstalling Notepad++, ---because it also creates a context menu item for a similar pupose but actually works, so I thought there was a slim chance of a conflict.---
- Reinstalling again, but also unticking then re-ticking the checkbox for "context menu". ---just in case there was an improperly set flag in the install code, this had a chance to set it right.---
Things that might be relevent, but might not:
- I first installed the version without GTK, but realised that was a mistake and so uninstalled, then installed the correct version.
- I'm running Windows 7 Pro (64bit).
Hi translators and friends of Geany,
Short after announcement of string freeze for Geany, I'm happy we also
have a string freeze for the combined Geany-plugins project which is
also planned to be released in about 2 weeks.
As before, I'd be very happy if you could send a patch or complete file
with translation to either the geany-i18n mailing list or direct to me
within the next two weeks so we can include it to the next release.
Deadline will be 2010-06-02.
To make it more easy for you I've already uploaded updated versions of
the po files to svn with r1395. You can access them as always at
http://geany.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/geany-plugins/trunk/geany-plugins
or by checking out the svn tree of Geany by using e.g.
svn co https://geany.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/geany-plugins/trunk/geany-plugins geany-plugins
Fans of git can also use the interface provided by http://git.geany.org
by using
git clone http://git.geany.org/git/geany-plugins
Also at http://i18n.geany.org/plugins are statistics and daily updated
files available.
As mentioned before, we are trying to have all translations complete by
2010-06-02.
If your language was translated by two or more in past, please double
check directly with them or by pinging me, so we don't need to translate
same things two or three times. Also please feel to ping me for every
question or if you like to start a new translation for an unsupported
language.
Thanks and happy translating ;)

I am big fun of Geany and have used it in Windows and Linux as my primary development editor.
The problem is usage of Geany under Mac OSx.
Basically under Mac osx you have three options:
1) Install port and install geany through the port. This is the most simple way. Geany looks a little bit ugly but workable and fast.
2) Deploy native Mac OSx GTK (see gtk-osx). More complicated way to use Geany. Geany looks more integrated with Mac OSx, but it is SLOW !
3) Use virtual (Linux) machine. Not a graceful way but better than nothing.
I have tried all three options. And unfortunately only third option is applicable.
Options 1) and 2) has critical bug. If you try to build something geany starts consuming 100% CPU time !
It seems there is something wrong with process output reading, geany cannot correctly finalize it and stuck somewhere in reading loop.
Does anybody have the same experience and may be just by chance has found a workaround ?
