Hello everybody,
I've been happily using Geany for a little while now, coding mostly in
Python. I have a couple questions:
1. For a dark color scheme, eg Vibrant Ink, how do i get the active
line to not be highlighted. White text + white highlighting =
invisible text on the line I'm trying to edit. Arrgh!
2. Any debugger advice for python? I am finding winpdb is pretty slow
and actually crashes on my machine a fair amount.
I'm on a windows 7 64 bit installation.
Thanks!

Hi Lex,
Sorry for my late reply -- I just turned on Digest mode so it took a
while to see your message.
1. I have Geany 1.23, Ubuntu 12.04. Yes, my file is .py
I went into Geany and did these extra things: Turn off "Tab key indents"
in Indentation, Turn on "Snippet completion" in Completions.
Still, when I hit a tab key, it just inserts white spaces (sometimes 1,
sometimes 4/tab).
2. What's the best way to raise interest in a feature like Code minimap?
I looked at the Feature Request page on SourceForge and they seem to
request mainly support for miscellaneous language. Whereas some of the
slick Sublime-like features (minimap, multiple cursors, put both quotes
around a highlighted word) would seem to be universally appealing.
Thanks, - Anh

Hello Geany users,
I have just installed Geany on Ubuntu and when I open the preferences I
have tab General, Interface, ..., Various but after Various* I do not have
the Terminal tab (see image below)*, which is what I wanted to access to
paste and copy commands to the terminal to execute small pieces of code.
Have I made a mistake in installing geany (i used on the command line: sudo
apt-get install geany)
Thank you very much for help.
Best regards,
marco

Hi translators and friends of Geany,
We are on the final lap for a new release: 1.24 is near and will be
release at the second weekend of April. As usual in prior we are having
a phase to update the translations -- and here we are ;)
I'd be very happy if you could send a patch, a pull request or single
file with translation to either the geany-i18n mailing list or direct
to me within the next two weeks so we can include it to the next
release. Deadline will be 2014-04-12.
To make it more easy for you I've already uploaded updated versions of
the po files as well as to git master. You can either
download the direct via web or by cloning the repository from
https://github.com/geany/geany-plugins
This can be done e.g. with
git clone https://github.com/geany/geany-plugins.git
Also at http://i18n.geany.org/plugins are statistics and daily updated
files available (updated files by tomorrow CEST)
As mentioned before, we are trying to have all translations complete by
2014-04-12.
If your language was translated by two or more in past, please double
check directly with them or by pinging me, so we don't need to
translate same things two or three times. Also please feel to ping me
for every question or if you like to start a new translation for an
unsupported language.
Thanks and happy translating
Frank

Hi,
I'll upgrade the operating system on the geany.org server on Sunday,
March 09 2014. Therefore the server and its services will be down for a
short period of time (ideally just a reboot).
The following services will be affected:
- all mailing lists
- websites *.geany.org
- Updatechecker plugin
Maintenance period:
Sunday, March 09 2014
15:00 - 17:00 UTC
I'll report back here once all is done and up running again.
Regards,
Enrico

Hi folks,
Some of you might already aware of, some might not: The next Geany
release is scheduled for second weekend of April -- so around April
13th. In preparation of these, we are planning to do the feature and
string freeze at the upcoming weekend -- March, 29th.
Sp ....
Plugin developers: please check your pull requests and merge open
request, which shall be part of 1.24 release. Also please check your
strings for improvements and typos. I will not merge any feature
changes after 2014-03-29 -- only bug fixing will be allowed ;)
This also applies of course to Geany core. So please also finish your
changes and patches and send them in until upcoming weekend. Also
maybe report spelling issues if your found them.
After this weekend I will update po files with new version and upload
it to the git. I will send another information mail for the actual
string freeze to i18n-mailinglist once it is done.
Cheers,
Frank
