Hi
I've struggled to find a key to toggle insert and overtype mode on a Mac laptop keyboard. I can't find it as an option in Setting/Keybindings either. Am I missing something? Have not found reference to it either via mailing list search nor in the documentation.
Regards, Mark

I'm using a 105 key keyboard (the big boy w numeric keypad and all) and if I happen to hit the "Insert" key (right beside the backspace) well then my on screen moves from a block to a cursor (or vice versa).
Dunno if that's it - - - its worth a try though (don't think it changes much of anything).

That reminds me. The zero key on my numpad acts as an Insert key when the numpad is disabled. I've hit that by accident at times.
Hi all, thanks for replying.
I'm on a laptop keyboard, with no numeric keypad, so I've no NUM LOCK/0 to try.
You can tell if you're in INS or OVR mode on the status line on the bottom of the window.
I tried all the recommendations for Fn and ⌘ key combos, but none of them work. The Accessibility Keyboard/Keyboard Viewer has a numeric keypad, but it only works as expected (0=0 appears).
I shall ask nicely for a toggle to be added somewhere https://github.com/geany/geany/discussions/4090, so I can create a key binding for it or something similar.

I don't have a Mac, but searching might lead some result. https://www.theverge.com/23591533/mac-remap-keyboard-how-to
So you may visualise the results https://support.apple.com/guide/mac-help/use-the-keyboard-viewer-on-mac-mchl...
But basically, I'm trying to say that you may need to remap your keyboard to suite the necessities. I had this matter with Windows 11, because in my language is missing the "<" and ">" keys, but there's a program to remap the keyboard as needed, perhaps some keycode must be find.

This might work: SHIFT + 0
One person got a Bluetooth PC keyboard and used its insert key. That might be worth looking into.
You can try turning on Full Keyboard Access in the accessibility keyboard to see if it gives you an insert key or a numpad:
https://support.apple.com/guide/mac-help/change-keyboard-settings-for-access...
This may be of some use:
https://apple.stackexchange.com/questions/88055/text-editing-switch-to-overr...
This page suggests that this sort of functionality is alien to Apple, so it doesn't exist as an Apple setting (although some apps provide it):

I shall ask nicely for a toggle to be added somewhere https://github.com/geany/geany/discussions/4090, so I can create a key binding for it or something similar.
That looks good.

I don't have a Mac, but here are some things to try:
Fn + Enter Fn+M Fn+. Fn+Option+Enter ⌘+R
If all else fails, open the on-screen keyboard and click the Insert button.
