Hi,
just in case somebody else runs into this issue, I have found out what is the cause (at least partially). Turns out that the default terminal emulator of Ubuntu (gnome-terminal) will not get killed by Geany with the second press of F5, whereas the default terminal emulator of Debian (xterm) will be. Using gnome-terminal as Geany terminal allows running multiple python scripts at the same time even in Debian.

Well, the answer is that it is not intended to be possible, there is no code to manage more than one execute process. Maybe some old version(s) (1.26 is 5 years ago, who remembers ... well ok github does, but I'm not an archeologist :) had a bug that allowed it, and maybe the behaviour is different on windows, but that is not the intention.

When asking questions its important to give versions, nobody knows what your old version was or what the new one is.
Geany has never been able to have more than one execute command at a time, but maybe you had modified the actual command Geany ran to detach the job and so return complete to Geany immediately.
