[Geany] RFC: Setting up a monthly newsleter?

Hi folks, I was thinking about an idea I'm not sure whether somebody would be interesting in. As the Geany family is growing it might become more difficult to keep track on current developments inside the project as well as the close environment like new or updated plugins, important updates on GTK or some other used library in case you don't read every mail on the mailing list or hanging around all time inside IRC. As I know from a couple of other projects some kind of a project newsletter has been set up by a couple of people to help to keep on track with latest updates. So I'd like to suggest setting up something like this also for Geany and its plugins etc.. In difference to the newsletters around Debian or PostgresSQL I was thinking about a monthly one maintained by a small team of maybe three people monitoring the mailing list, IRC as well as they are open for input of users and (plugin) developers. Based on this they could compile a newsletter and send it out to either geany-user mailing list or maybe some newly created one. I could imagine of topics inside the 'newsletter' (unsorted list): * Geany Core * Reviews inside press, blogs, wikis etc. * Major updates/bugfixes/improvements on svn trunk * New releases and updates * HowTos for working with Geany * Plugins * New plugins available * Major updates/improvements/bugfixes on plugins * General * Important updates of used libraries * News out of community (of importance for Geany) So question are: Who would like to see such a thing? [Geany] latex underscore gone bracy

Hi, since upgrading to 0.20 "Disra", typing an underscore in any file with .tex extension will immediately appear as _{} . Can anyone confirm/enlighten? Steps to reproduce: open new file, save as test.tex, type an underscore, observe _{} > geany --version geany 0.20 (built on Jan 6 2011 with GTK 2.22.1, GLib 2.26.1, GIO) -- "It's zero-zum. Who's on the other side? Who's the idiot?" "Düsseldorf. Stupid Germans. They take rating agencies serious. They believe in the rules."

[Geany] what file extension are project files supposed to have?

Hi, all! When i create a new project file in Geany, it prompts me for a name but it does not automatically add its own extension to it. So i make one up. However, when i then try to open it later, the file selection dialog doesn't see my project files by default because i haven't used the expected extension. What IS the expected file extension for project files? [Geany] How to make custom autocompletion scope?

I want to improve geany's php autocompletion for php functions, adding some extra info and missing functions (also, in my case, some basic drupal function i use quite often). How can i create my own functions autocompletion suggestion? I saw the php.tags in /usr/share/geany folder, but looks a bit confusing about syntax.. and does it get ovverride by a php.tags files placed into my ~/.config/geany folder? [Geany] Editor navigation custom keybindings

Hi all, Is there a mechanism for customizing the cursor movement keybindings in Geany? I'm a happy Notepad++ user on WIndows, largely because it accommodates my "inverted T" editor navigation keybindings: (http://chambery.subfire.org/images/keybindings-simplified.png) Notepad++ uses Scintilla underneath, maybe I can port these over? [Geany] Question about custom colour scheme and Geany configuration files

I am (still) working on a custom colour scheme for Geany, using named styles. Thanks to Lex I have corrected a problem with the styling of Geany's own configuration files, with just one exception. The configuration files contain text such as "[Style]" and "tag=" and in my custom colour scheme this is appear as dark blue on a dark grey background. Does anyone know offhand what these items are referred to in the style files? -- Russell

[Geany] issue of geany & sshfs

Hi, I was using geany with sshfs because of the problem with sftp. But newly there is a problem with sshfs, geany can't write/change remote file because of permission. It creates a temporary file but can't change with the original file and gives me permission error. Same error is also available for gedit but emacs works like a charm. In fact previously geany'd worked with sftp but later on raised an issue. In here, people adviced me to use sshfs. I've been using sshfs for months but now everything is turned upside down. Is there anybody who has the same problem, any solution for this problem. Thank you in advance.

[Geany] 'make' feedback

Hi All, Using geany under Windows, is it possible to configure geany to provide feedback as a build is in progress? For example, I have big app that take a while to build, when I execute the 'Make' command from the menu, geany becomes unresponsive until the build completes, at which point 'Compiler' tab updates. Is it possible to have the 'Compiler' tab update as make provides feedback to stdout/stderr, just to keep me aware of what is going on and to keep geany from going unresponsive? Thank you, Chris
