Does it happen every time you start Geany? I guess you have other GTK based programs that work? Which GTK version are you running? Which version of Geany are you running? When does it Geany crash? Start it from a terminal with the command line argument --debug and show us please the output. Can you make a full gdb backtrace?

When does it Geany crash? Start it from a terminal with the command line argument --debug and show us please the output. Can you make a full gdb backtrace?

Hmm, this is not so informative as I expected. Can you compile Geany with debug support? The important point is in the line 7,8 or even earlier. The lines in the backtrace are only the result of the error.

OK, you might get a different backtrace now using a build without -fomit-frame-pointer. If so please post it back to the list - this could be why there were ?? entries.
For debug, the flag is -g, but the Geany build system normally enables this already. Also for debugging it's best not to optimize higher than -O2.

Thanks, memcheck is just a heavier version of addrcheck.
Unfortunately Valgrind didn't reveal anything in Geany directly causing a problem, so it could be some incompatibility or a bug in GTK 2.10.0/GLib 2.12.1.

OK, you might get a different backtrace now using a build without -fomit-frame-pointer. If so please post it back to the list - this could be why there were ?? entries.
Unfortunately the backtrace is identical.
For debug, the flag is -g, but the Geany build system normally enables this already. Also for debugging it's best not to optimize higher than -O2.
