Hello, sorry if this has been discussed before, there has been so many mails since a few days that I have not been able to read them all deeply.
First, thanks for the filebrowser plugin which is really useful !
There is a small display bug in the adresse bar of the plugin : when you browse to / then browse under child directories, you can see 2 slashes at the beginning of the path. This has no effect on the files and does not occur when you "stay" in your home directory.
Secondly I'd like to request a change : it would be nice to be able to enter a path to a directory/file by hand using the adress bar. In fact I first thought it was possible until I tried :-)
Thanks.

I've seen this too...

I have mailed this list for a feature request too some time ago: "rightclick->open in file browser". So you can rename, move, delete, copy, etc your files...

I've just thought of another feature request for the file browser...
"Rightclick on directory -> search in files..."
This action opens the "Search -> find in files..." dialog with the right-clicked directory as 'directory'...

Tried it and it works as expected. A few suggestions though: * Enable alt+backspace to delete from cursor to a slash (or backslash on windows?)
/path/folder/dir/etc%cursor% [alt+backspace] /path/folder/dir/%cursor% [alt+backspace] [alt+backspace] /path/%cursor%
* Suggest as you type (like in the editor)

This doesn't seem to work on my system. Geany and the terminal I started it from don't report anything... (Xfce/Thunar)
I also noticed that the action always uses the selected item, instead of the one I right-clicked on.
Suggestion: * Enable right click->select item from list and perform action on the newly selected item.

"Rightclick on directory -> search in files..."
Added in SVN r2085.
See previous suggestion about right-clicking...
Speaking of right clicking: It would also be useful to be able to focus other widgets (VTE for example) with a right click. Pasting something with R-Click->Paste doesn't focus the VTE, so you'll have to left-click it before you can execute the command you've just pasted...

Tried it and it works as expected. A few suggestions though:
- Enable alt+backspace to delete from cursor to a slash (or backslash
on windows?)
/path/folder/dir/etc%cursor% [alt+backspace] /path/folder/dir/%cursor% [alt+backspace] [alt+backspace] /path/%cursor%
Ctrl-Backspace works and seems to be the default(GtkTextView and GtkEntry) and is consistent with the editor widget. I don't see any need for Alt-Backspace.
- Suggest as you type (like in the editor)
I just added a basic autocompletion. It works only for the current directory, it won't read into sub or top level directories.
I have mailed this list for a feature request too some time ago: "rightclick->open in file browser". So you can rename, move, delete,
copy,
etc your files...

Sorry, I forgot to add some error reporting code. Added in r2087. Remember to change the default application(nautilus) in the plugin configuration dialog.
I also noticed that the action always uses the selected item, instead of the one I right-clicked on.
Yes.
Suggestion:
- Enable right click->select item from list and perform action on the
newly selected item.
Why isn't a simple left-click on an item sufficient? You want to right-click and then click on a menu item "select item" instead of just left-clicking on an item?
Speaking of right clicking: It would also be useful to be able to focus other widgets (VTE for example) with a right click. Pasting something with R-Click->Paste doesn't focus the VTE, so you'll have to left-click it before you can execute the command you've just pasted...
Use the auto-focus option, can be found in the preferences dialog on the main page.

No, I'd like it if the right click action selects the item and then shows the context actions of that item. (just like my file manager->thunar does)
[Item1] <- selected Item2
[Item1] Item2 <- right click
Item1 [Item2] <- selected + context menu

No-can-do. My mouse has a will of it's own sometimes and jumps to one side of the screen, which in it's turn will focus a widget I don't want to.
When I start typing somewhere, I'd like to keep focus on that widget, unless I manually focus something else. (with either left or right click or a keybind)

Ok, it was a simple change and should be better now(SVN r2088).

Hmm, you should "fix" your mouse ;-). I experienced similar problems when I used a very coloured mousepad. This may confuse optical mice. Since I'm using a plain white mousepad, my mouse behaves fine.
Back to topic: the VTE issue was also fixed. Any other widgets with this problem?

Sure, I also use thunar if I ever use a graphical file manager(mainly mc and/or the command line is sufficient for me). thunar is excellent, Benny did a really good job with it. Anyway, I guess most users will use Geany on Gnome and there is nautilus the default file manager.

It might be an idea to include some help with the error message?
"17:30:24: File Browser plugin: Could not execute the configured file manager "nautilus" (No such file or directory)."

"17:30:24: Could not execute external command (Failed to execute child process "nautilus" (No such file or directory))."
This way the users will search for where they can set this preference and fix it themselves, without the need for reading documentation/faq/ml.
