I'm on Debian 12 Xfce, standard install.
I've compiled Geany 2.0, downloaded from https://geany.org/download/releases/, all fine.
I've compiled a number of plugins, however the following are missing libraries, but I can't find out what I need to install to get these to compile.
What do I need to "apt install" to fix these errors:
- markdown: webkit2gtk-4.1 - spellcheck: enchant

You need the -dev packages.
I assume you are using the git source for markdown as it was updated to that version of webkit2gtk after release 2.0.
Note Enchant needs to be 2.2 not 2.3.
Cheers Lex

Many thanks - made progress but am having problem with the MarkDown plugin, as below.

Correct
to that version of webkit2gtk after release 2.0.
One reason I'm upgrading to Geany v2 is that I had problems on my Desktop with the Markdown plugin on geany 1.38, all downloaded from Debian 12 packages (no compiling by me on app or plugins) - but I'm having same problems with compiled versions, as below.
When I installed and enabled the Markdown plugin, on my desktop it froze my environment completely - on restarting machine re-enable markdown plugin, now it wouldn't display any mark down files, even simple ones. Exporting the file as HTML using the plugin produced a working HTML file.
When I use the compiled version of geany 2 / markdown plugin, the same thing happens - freezes machine on first enabled, then doesn't display any markdown files. To compile, I installed the following libraries: apt install libwebkit2gtk-4.1-dev
On my laptop, Geany 1.38 & markdown pluging downloaded from Debian 12 packages all work fine. There is little difference between the 2 machines other than laptop is a fresh Debian 12 install, desktop was a Debian 11, recently upgraded to 12.
Other plugins I've used, such as Tree, Autoclose, spell check, git change bar, all work fine, no crashes.
Does anyone have suggestions what might be causing this?
Note Enchant needs to be 2.2 not 2.3.
Thanks, this all works fine.

Well, somebody might, but since the project doesn't make Debian (or any other) packages it will just depend on some individual to respond. Maybe report your distro problem to them, they are more likely to be able to help there.
Note Enchant needs to be 2.2 not 2.3.
