Perhaps this is better put as a formal bug report.
I noted just a little while ago that when in split view with the same file in each view that trying to paste into the bottom view would paste the text from where I copied it in the top view even though the cursor was clearly active in the bottom view. I had enabled the split view plugin without restarting Geany, if that makes a difference.
IIRC this is a known limitation of the split view, but make a bug report anyway so it doesn't get lost.
I'll check into doing so.
In the meantime a workaround (at least on Linux) is to paste from one window to the other using the middle mouse button to paste the highlighted text.
For some reason, I have had difficulty using the middle-button paste with Geany where nothing will paste. I am Using Debian Sid with XFCE and its Clipman clipboard manager. I also use Geany in a GNOME3 environment with gnome-shell on a laptop. I will have to see if the problem exists there.
Works for me on LMDE xfce4, note middle mouse pastes the currently highlighted text, not the clipboard (its old school Unix). Its only a workaround.
Cheers Lex
