Just a quick reply: this is currently causing me problems with the socket because I ran a 2nd instance of Geany, which updated the config dir. I'll look into it soon.
Just added a prompt before the configuration directory is moved, so the user can choose to quit instead. This is useful if an older first instance is already running and you don't want to lose any changed configuration when it is eventually shut down.
In this case, the user should choose the Quit option from the 2nd instance, then quit the 1st instance and restart it, choosing Yes when asked whether to move the config dir.
