While we are on the topic of searches I have noticed that if the find or replace dialog is already open, highlighting a variable and doing a ctl-f or ctl-h doesn't replace the existing "search for" with the new highlighted value. This would be a very nice feature for us when doing successive search/replace.

While we're on the subject of find and replace, a nice feature would be to be able to limit the action to a blocked section of code. Example: Assume I want to change all occurences of a string WITHIN a certain section such as an output block, etc. Being able to block then perform the action and have it limited to the highlighted area I think would be quite productive.
You can already do that: just highlight a section of text and click the 'In Selection' button in the Replace dialog. It's one of my favourite Geany features.
+1
IMO the "Replace" dialog shouldn't have such useful features hidden inside a collapsed expander by default.
