Not wanting to hi-jack the thread, but if your VCS happens to be git, you might want to try my Gitbrowser plug-in (https://github.com/unwind/gitbrowser) and see if that helps with this.
That means not having any Geany projects, which seems to make sense to me since:
- The set of files that constitute the project is already stored once, by Git.
- The rules for building the project are already stored once, in a Makefile.
- The set of previously opened files is already tracked by Geany.
Of course, if this totally misses the mark for your use-case(s), just ignore me and carry on. :)
This is my cue to invite you to join the geany-plugins[1] project and bring your plugin with you :-)
