Java debugging in Geany

I set up Geany on Ubuntu - nice! It uses javac to compile java programs (not ghcc) and works very well. I have the debugger installed and the debug window works. However, I need some help in actually being able to debug a java program. So some questions: 1. Do I need to define any changes to the compile menu? If so, what? 2. I have used debuggers in other languages, but they all have debug menus in the ide (Watch, Step, Step-Over, etc). Any instructions on using the debugger? It occurs to me that this question has been asked before, so someone may have written something that would be helpful. If so, feel free to send me a link. geany Compile - Strange error message

Dear Geany users I'm trying to Execute (= compile to html) asciidoctor files in geany. At the command prompt, this converts test file "Oh_dear.adoc" to html perfectly:- $ asciidoctor Oh_dear.adoc -a icons,toc=left -o Oh_dear.html But when I have the same file open in geany, and press Execute, I get /tmp/geany_run_script_AKS1OY.sh: 7: /tmp/geany_run_script_AKS1OY.sh: ./Oh_dear: not found Relevant bits of filetypes file and template file pasted in below With other execute commands (e.g. compile Perl script) there is no problem Your help much appreciated Richard H The file filetypes.adoc (~/.config/geany/filedefs/filetypes.adoc) reads ... snip... Trying to not highlight current line

Looking for supporters for booth and co

Hi folks, during our booth at FrOScon in Sankt Augustin, Germany a few weeks ago we had a little discussion about low number of people running booth. As during last years this were always the same ones for Geany (Enrico, Jiri, me) this is some kind of CfP for running a booth or taking part at any fitting event. In Central Europe, well mostly Germany/CZ, we are trying to be present at 4 bigger events (Chemnitzer Linuxtage in spring, FrOScon in summer, Prague Linux Days and OpenRheinRuhr in autumn). For this events it would be cool if _you_ like to join us telling users and future users how great Geany is and getting some feedback etc. If you are not from this region, but you have a FLOSS event at your side (or any event Geany could fit into), why not running you own booth? We got some experience and materials prepared over time so we could help you organizing it. Just say "ping". This being said: Even such an event can be hard, telling about 100 times the same thing, its totally worth for users feedback and meeting people etc. Hey and some of the events offer free entrance and beverages too ;) Cheers, Frank

Geany custom tags problems!

Hi folks First, thanks to the developers and community for Geany - amazing editor! I am in need of some help with customizing Geany. I have a set of words that I want available when I am typing text files. So I read the documentation and created a ############# Modified the [filetype_extensions.conf ] as below: [Extensions] ... txt=*.txt; [Groups] ... Misc=JSON;txt; ########### - copied the /usr/share/geany/filetypes.css to the file below and modified. ~/.config/geany$ more filedefs/filetypes.txt.conf # For complete documentation of this file, please see Geany's main documentation [styling] # Edit these in the colorscheme .conf file instead default=default ..... [keywords] [settings] # default extension used when saving files extension=txt # MIME type mime_type=text/plain [indentation] ############### ~/.config/geany$ more tags/txt.txt.tags # format=pipe alpha||| omega||| gamma||| beta||| When I start geany from command line as geany -v this is what i see: Geany-INFO: Geany 1.27, en_US.UTF-8 Geany-INFO: GTK 2.24.30, GLib 2.48.1 Geany-INFO: System data dir: /usr/share/geany Geany-INFO: User config dir: /home/myuser/.config/geany Geany-INFO: Added filetype txt (68). However it seems to be loaded for file type (txt) where as my text files come up as txt (UTF-8). Needless to say my tags from autocompletion don't show up. However when I tried to set the file type to php manually and saved the tag file as php.php.tags it worked. The same with setting manual type of "txt" and loading txt.txt.tags does not work! Any help/guidance is greatly appreciated. Thanks

Windows 10, running ubuntu bash commands as a build option

You probably know that you can now run a bash command line from Windows 10, and even more interestingly you can download all the ubuntu tools (14.04) such as g++. You can also run these commands from a regular windows cmd.exe if you do the following: bash -c "g++ --version" for example, gives the version number. However, if I do the same as a build option (say, the compile option) I get "Process failed(The system cannot find the file specified)". Even if I use the absolute path, the Compiler line says C:\Windows\System32\bash.exe -c "g++ --version" (in directory: C:\Users\bill) with the same error message. PATH does have bash in it, it all works fine in cmd, just not here as an option. Any ideas? For those that want to ask why the question, I'm trying to help students in a large C++ class.
