GTK Theming

Hi all, I'd like to change the main menu font size on Geany. Long story but I have two monitors with different DPIs and need the menus and notebook tabs to be smaller on the larger monitor, because they're huge. Using these instructions: http://www.geany.org/manual/current/#defining-own-widget-styles-using-gtkrc… I put this in my ~/.gtkrc-2.0 and in the same file in my current theme, but it didn't work: style "geanyStyle" { font_name="Sans 10" } widget "GeanyToolbarMenu" style "geanyStyle" style "geanyStyle2" { font_name="Sans 10" } widget "GeanyMenubar" style "geanyStyle2" Not sure why it doesn't work. :/

How to set external diff viewer in GeanyVC?

I have the GeanyVC plugin enabled and the "use external diff viewer" option checked, and meld installed locally, but when I go to VC->directory->diff, it shows me the generic output from diff, not meld. How do I configure GeanyVC to use meld?

Copy and paste files?

Is there a plugin that allows the one of the sidebar tabs to support copying and pasting files? Neither the "project" nor "tree browser" nor "files" nor "documents" tabs seem to have this ability.

How to hide *.pyc files?

How do you hide files with certain extensions from displaying the the Files/Project/Tree Browser tabs? I found this old mailing list post ( http://lists.geany.org/pipermail/users/2011-January/006358.html) which claims to have added a patch to hide *.pyc back in 2011, but the problem still exists 6 years later.

Missing Eclipse Features?

Hi, I'm looking for a replacement for Eclipse, and I recently discovered Geany. I've installed it and all of it's plugins from the Ubuntu 16 packages, and now I'm trying to understand it's interface. It seems to have most of the features of Eclipse, but a few major things are missing, so I'd hope someone can confirm these are missing or clarify where they are. Specifically: 1. Git integration Eclipse's eGit plugin allows you to: a. commit all changes in a project b. view a graphical diff and resolve merges of all changes in a project c. see all file changes and conflicts in a project's tree browser via folder/filename icons Does Geany have a plugin that does this? There appears to a git-changebar plugin, but even though I created a project for my local git repo and enabled the plugin, there doesn't appear to be any git actions shown anywhere, nor is it reflecting any changes that are made. Unfortunately, the git-changebar doc site (https://plugins.geany.org/git-changebar.html) has virtually no documentation on how to use the plugin. 2. Multiple project browsing I can create an arbitrary number of projects in Eclipse and edit files from multiple projects simultaneously. How do you do this in Geany? I can create and open a project, but I seem to be only able to view one project's files at a time, which is a huge limitation. 3. Project wide file search Eclipse has a feature to search all files in all projects. I see I can right-click in Geany and select "Find in Files", but this doesn't appear to work. For example searching for the string literal "ss FooBar(" returns no files with matching content and a dozen error messages like: grep -nHIiF -- "ss FooBar(" (in directory: /home/chris/git/myproject/src) /bin/grep: dir1: Is a directory /bin/grep: dir2: Is a directory /bin/grep: dir3: Is a directory Am I missing something? Where are search results shown? Other than that, Geany performs very well, and if I can figure out how to plug these feature gaps, I'd really like to start using it. Memory-wise alone, it's a huge improvement over Eclipse, which consumes 20% of my 8GB of memory, compared to 0.5% with Geany. Regards, Chris

Sorting a selection of code

A while back I read on this list how one could select a section of code and then trigger a sort of the contents while in the editor. I've searched the archives but cannot seem to find the reference. Does anyone remember how one can accomplish that task and advise -OR- link to a similar tool for use within geany? Thank you.

Problem with Geany and Windows IME

Hello, using Geany 1.30.1 "Calron", on a Windows 10 computer with a japanese keyboard. When I try to type using the roman letters of Windows IME, I get instead the japanese symbols that are mapped to each key (for instance, E prints out イ, 8 prints out ユ, and so on), which is a whole other way of typing that is not turned on anywhere else in the system. The only way I can type roman characters normally in Geany is switching the input language from Japanese to English, but that has different mapping for all the special symbols, so it's not a good solution at all. Has anyone encountered this (or similar) problem?

Problem with using Deja Vu Sans in Geany

Hi, I'm using Geany 1.26 "Rosset" on Mac Os X 10.10.5, I'm trying to change my font from the default Courier to Deja Vu Sans. My problem is that when I select the font and the regular font weight of "book," that all my code displays in bold which is harder to read and it doesn't allow for certain keywords to be bolded as before. I've googled for solutions and I've tried to read the configuration documentation, and either I can't find the place where the proper font formatting of the default font can be set or I'm not understanding the docs. I want to change font primarily because certain unicode characters I'm using don't appear in the Courier, and I like the look of Deja Vu better. -Sam

Auto Completion Geany 1.30 Not Working

Hi All, Does auto completion work for anyone running version 1.30? It used to work in my old install of 1.28... When I type function names that are open in other documents, they don't auto complete. My settings look correct for auto complete. Does anyone else have this problem? I don't think anything is auto completing for me, but in case it matters, Javascript and PHP are not auto completing for me. I think nothing does. I'm running Geany 1.30 on Windows 7 x64 SP1. Thanks OwN
