configuration for JSON and LaTeX

Hi there, After some hours dealing with the information <https://wiki.geany.org/howtos/configurebuildmenu> on how to configure the Build menu, and checking out several examples in GitHub, I did not succeed. Hope you can help me with this, cause it's the last step to make our IDE, with Geany-inside, work properly. This is what I need: The IDE is to process JSON and LaTeX files, and Geany is to validate correctness, and show an error report in the message window. With the current configuration Geany will automatically detect these filetypes and applies the customized highlighting. From this point, it is intended that Shift-F9 obtains the report by launching the right local program 'check_json' and 'check_latex', and filtering the result with a concrete regular expression. What is the [build-menu] section to have these scripts and REs in the right place when the IDE is run, such that the user just has to open the file, press Shift-F9 and get the report? need help building Geany Plugins

I am trying to build Plugins for Geany 1.33 under RHEL 7.3. Thanks for the recommendations everyone. The libraries installed on the machine I want to run Geany on are so far out of date that even jhbuild (to build a local updated version of GTK+) won't run without updating a list of dependencies. I decided it was easier to create a shell script that SSH's to the newer machine where I was able to build Geany and calls Geany from there. This allows me to run Geany on the older machine.

I have changed this on a local copy of 1.34 and it works fine - just one function, search_show_find_dialog had to be changed in Search.c You can leave the search widget open and highlight the next text to find. It transfers to the widget when you click find again without having to close the widget. Modified file attached if anyone wants it. I only implemented it in the basic find, not in find-replace nor find-in-files although it looks like the changes would transcribe quite easily. Compiling for Linux was straightforward and I did manage to make a windows installer using the help on https://wiki.geany.org/howtos/win32/msys2 That was not so straighforward ! Has anyone made the "Automated build via MAKEPKG file" yet ? The only problem that I have with only the windows build is that it crashes on help-about. Everything else looks fine. Does anyone have an idea why ? Does windows require something extra for that? K

Is there a way to turn off brace matching in Geany? I'm afraid I find it very distracting when suddenly the brace next to my cursor starts blinking while I'm typing.

Hilight current line while searching

Hi All I use Geany 1.32 on linux mint, i want to found a way to highlight the line where the needle is found while using searching tools. It seem's the highlighting is only applied when editor have focus, and in this case, focus is on the search window. Maybe having another indicator like an arrow near line number will be useful. glibc relocation error when trying to run relocatable build

I want to run Geany on a system running Redhat Enterprise Server 6.7. Many of the dependent libraries are out of date, so I built the executable from the same shared directory while logged in to another machine running RHES 7.3 using the “Relocatable GNU/Linux Build” instructions found on this page: https://wiki.geany.org/howtos/relocatable_build I also copied all required libraries using the script listed at the bottom of the page. When I try to run Geany on the RHES 6.7 machine, I receive the following error: geany: relocation error: /user/kklein/geany/1.33/bin/../lib/libc.so.6: symbol _dl_starting_up, version GLIBC_PRIVATE not defined in file ld-linux-x86-64.so.2 with link time reference What do I need to do to make my relocatable build use the correct version of glibc? Do I just need to install a newer version of glib on the RHES 6.7 machine? Thanks Kevin

problems with certain colors in Black Scheme (black.conf)

Using geany 1.27 in Mint 18.1 I tried out the black.conf theme to reduce screen brightness (https://github.com/codebrainz/geany-themes/tree/master/colorschemes). I see the updated "*delt-dark.conf*" theme also has several of the same issues I've described below. Which is, in Geany - maybe all editors, using dark background schemes, certain highlighting, searching, "go to line" colors don't allow good contrast between code text colors & the highlight or "found" colors. Generally, the search or highlight colors work OK except a few. Where in a light theme, the problems don't exist. I'm not sure if these instructions are still 100% correct for >= v1.27, or if I'm missing something. At least 2 problems are the color of the marked line, when use Search > In Document, then click a found instance in the message pane (the lower panel). In a light theme, I tried several colors that all worked well for this & didn't totally obscure certain colored text. In the black theme, I haven't found any color for this, that doesn't obscure / mostly obscure text that's close to the (background; hilight??) color, where in light themes, it's not a problem. I believe black theme's author originally used marker_line=#ff208c;#80d4b2;false;false --> where #80d4b2 is a dark, minty green. 1) 1st, why does the color - highlighting the entire line show at all, when *both* arguments are false? 2) "marker_line" instructions say, the foreground color (1st argument) are only used for "show marker margins" - in View menu. Ok. Alluding the 2nd argument is the highlighted line color. The SECOND color is the one I can't find any color (in a black background theme), nor any "marker_translucency" setting that WON'T obscure one or more syntax colors. If I choose the lightest yellow #fffffe, white syntax is "visible" but not readable. When I click a found instance in the message pane, that's when the highlighted line(s) are partly obscured. But using Search > Mark, the background color is translucent enough to read either light or dark text colors. It seems VERY hard w/ black themes, to find a color for Search > "mark", that shows well for *both* light & dark text (in a black BG theme). Translucency doesn't seem to work for marker_line - using menu - View > go to line, or click a found line # in the message pane. That's when any color used will obscure some text & make others hard to read. Isn't the idea for dark backgrounds better visibility (& less glare)? 3) "current_line=" highlighting doesn't seem to work well on black backgrounds. Choosing the lightest shade of any color only allows the most highly contrasting text to show. In dark themes, it seems almost impossible to choose a color that contrasts w/ light & dark text, allowing both to show through. But in *light* background themes (& other text editors) highlighting the current line works well on light AND dark text. Because the highlight color (say, bright yellow) in light colored themes is translucent enough to let very pale text colors show through. Why won't it work in Geany on black background themes? In Geany, using black themes, current_line highlight (pale or bold colors) doesn't seem to be a highlight; rather a very solid, almost foreground color that only highest contrasting text is readable.
