I have installed geany-1.36 and geany-plugins-1.36 in my Debian-Buster system from the downloaded .tar.gz files. There were a few repeated warning messages including text like: modifier ignored, libtool: warning: relinking, 'g_type_class_add_private’ is deprecated. I am happy to pass these on if you think they are relevant. The basic Geany package seems to be working as expected, but the debugger plugin does not appear in the Plugin Manager list. It was built and is listed in /usr/local/geany. I did not enable GTK3 as I was not sure if I needed it for debugger. Can you please advise me what to do next? If I do need to build against GTK3, then what is the best procedure? I think it may be along the following lines: A. Uninstall Geany and Geany plugins. How best to do this? It looks like there is a target uninstall: in Makefiles. For Buster my command would be: ~$ sudo -s make uninstall B. Enable GTK3 and build. There is an option --enable-gtk3 in ./configure --help for geany-1.36, but gtk3 is not mentioned in ./configure --help for geany-plugins-1.36 So presumably the plan is: ========================================================================= ~/geany-1.36$ ./configure --enable-gtk3 ~/geany-1.36$ make ~/geany-1.36$ sudo -s make install Then: ~/geany-plugins-1.36$ ./configure ~/geany-plugins-1.36$ make ~/geany-plugins-1.36$ sudo -s make install ========================================================================= Please let me know if you want any further detail, and if you would do something different to the above. String freeze for Geany-Plugins 1.37

Hi translators, developers and friends of Geany! As Geany is getting a new major release, the Geany-Plugins are getting too -- 1.37 will be released soon. (I'm so happy to write this after more than a year … ;)) In preparation I have updated the po-files for Geany-Plugins at github and asking you whether you could update translations, review them or maybe add new languages. As on Geany core, I'd be very happy if you could send a patch, a pull request or single file with translation to either the geany-i18n mailing list or direct to me within the next two weeks so we can include it to the next release. Deadline will be also 2020-10-24 24:00h CEST. Let's make it the most complete translated release ever done for the plugins! To get most recent files you could just clone the repositories from Geany: https://github.com/geany/geany-plugins This can be done e.g. with git clone https://github.com/geany/geany-plugins.git Also at https://i18n.geany.org/plugins/ are statistics and daily updated files available. Dear translators and friends of Geany, After more than a year we are on the final road to Geany 1.37. I think these are great news. In preparation (and as always) I've just updated po-files for Geany core project inside github repositories and asking you whether you could update translations, review them or maybe add new languages. I'd be very happy if you could send a patch, a pull request or single file with translation to either the geany-i18n mailing list or direct to me within the next two weeks so we can include it to the next release. Deadline will be 2020-10-24 24:00h CET. This gives us about two weeks time to improve translations \o/ To get most recent files you could just clone the repositories from Geany: https://github.com/geany/geany This can be done e.g. with git clone https://github.com/geany/geany.git You can find daily updated po files at https://www.geany.org/contribute/translation/statistics/ too, which includes some statistics. List of symbols for Fortran source code broken under certain circumstances

Hi, Let a Fortran source code file containing a module, this module containing several subroutines. The symbol panel shows all subroutines inside the module. Now, if one subroutine contains a block construct, then all subroutine that follow the subroutine with the block construct appears to be out of the module in the symbol panel. If we have some source code like that: module AAA contains subroutine bbb end subroutine bbb subroutine ccc end subroutine ccc subroutine ddd end subroutine ddd end module AAA In the symbol panel we see: Module AAA bbb ccc ddd If subroutine ccc contains a block construct, the symbol panel looks like that: Module AAA bbb ccc Functions / subroutines ddd as if ddd was outside the AAA module. Is there something I can do to fix the problem ? Override comment_single in custom filetypes.xres.conf

Hello, I have been struggling with this for a couple of hours, mostly reading https://geany.org/manual/index.html#custom-filetypes to no avail, now it's time to ask for your help! I have a rather simplistic custom filetype for Xresources files: [styling] default=default comment=comment section=tag key=attribute assignment=operator defval=value [lexer_properties] lexer.props.allow.initial.spaces=0 [settings] extension=xres mime_type=text/x-xres lexer_filetype=Conf wordchars=_abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyzABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ01234 56789# comment_single=! It works well enough; the only aspect where it differs from the Conf filetype is that comments start with a '!', not with a '#'. This works well enough, but not with #include directives that are also valid Xresources syntax. How can I tell geany to see _only_ lines starting with '!' as comments? Currently it treats lines starting with '!' and '#' both as comments. Additional bonus: customised syntax highlighting for #include directives. Example: #include </path/to/includes/X.xres> Thanks for a great lightweight IDE! o.

Unable to disable auto-completion of single quote and double quote

Hi there, As above I get two (") and (') when I enter one, and that is when [edit]-[preferences]-[editor]-[completions]-single quotes and double quotes are un-ticked. When they are ticked I get three (") and (') each time I enter one. I have tried to edit the "geany.conf" file to fix it but I am unable to. Please suggest what may fix this. Regards ripspin

Question re snippet -- length limit of each line

While adding snippets specific to my programing environment, I would like to know the character limit of each code line. As a possible work around, I have discovered that adding a snippet name to the end of a line does include the snippet. I have one snippet that subsequently calls two others. Thanks, Bob Robert L. Failed to bind IPC socket

This message occurs on a Win 10 pro machine: OS Name Microsoft Windows 10 Pro Version 10.0.18363 Build 18363 Here are the first few lines from Help->Debug Messages 06:24:15: Geany WARNING : Failed to bind IPC socket (127.0.0.1:49876): 10013: An attempt was made to access a socket in a way forbidden by its access permissions. 06:24:15: Geany INFO : Geany 1.36, English_Canada.1252 06:24:15: Geany INFO : GTK 2.24.32, GLib 2.60.6 06:24:15: Geany INFO : System data dir: C:\Program Files (x86)\Geany\data 06:24:15: Geany INFO : User config dir: C:\Users\Doug\AppData\Roaming\geany 06:24:15: Geany INFO : System plugin path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Geany\lib\geany 06:24:15: Geany INFO : Added filetype Arduino (61). 06:24:15: Geany INFO : Added filetype Clojure (62). The warning does not seem to affect the normal functioning of Geany, as far as I know. I would however like to discover further information about this warning, and resolve it, if possible. Running the Autotools based build system from the current online manual https://www.geany.org/manual/current/index.html (version 1.35), I successfully completed the configure task: ============================================================== $ ./configure $ make ============================================================== However, the installation failed as it could not find ldconfig: ============================================================== # make install ... /bin/bash: line 3: ldconfig: command not found make[4]: *** [Makefile:1660: fix-ubuntu-libdir] Error 127 ... ============================================================== The library libc-bin (2.28-10) provides the ldcommand: ============================================================== ~$ whereis ldconfig ldconfig: /sbin/ldconfig /usr/share/man/man8/ldconfig.8.gz ~$ ============================================================== I have examined the configure output and .configure --help but ldconfig & libc-bin is not mentioned in either.
