[Geany] Auto Formatting of Source Code

Peace! Is there a way to automatically format a given source code interactively while typing? As far as I know, it is only possible to enter "if( /tab" to get if( ) { } Is there a way to automatically format "x=x+2;" to "x = x + 2;/n" for easier reading without manually entering spacebars and enter at the end. [Geany] Using Snippets

Hi! I do development work on both MS Windows and Ubuntu. I have had Geany installed on Ubuntu for a while (but not used it much). I was looking for Editors/IDEs that could support HTML, CSS, PHP and Python on both operating systems. Geany poped-up in several search results. I've downloaded Geany for Windows and installed it - looks great. However, I am now having a problem getting snippets to work. I can find instructions for Linux and have tried the Windows equivalent (the snippets.conf file located in the C:\Documents and Settings\Peter\Application Data\Geany directory). Nothing happens, I don't know how to activate the snippets. Any help would be greatly appreciated. [Geany] Special settings for some filetypes

Hi, I'm using Geany for about a year and it's a great application. I mostly use it to edit the C++ and PHP source code, but sometimes I need to edit Makefiles as well. I use 4 spaces as indentation in my C++ and PHP code, and I have set it to automatically 'fix' all the files I open to adhere to this rule. Since GNU make requires tabs to indent rules in Makefile, I have problem because I lose tabs every time I save the file. Is there some way to tell Geany to use tabs for indentation when "Makefile" is selected as the Filetype in Document menu? Thanks, -- Milan Babuskov http://www.flamerobin.org

There are a few problems with building geanylua right now. One is that I had to add '#define GETTEXT_PACKAGE "geany"' to /usr/include/geany/support.h. And as pointed out, it's installing in the legacy ~/.geany on Linux. There's something else I'd like to request about geanylua. Trying to write a package for it is turning out to be a mess. I'm writing a PKGBUILD for the Arch Linux User Repository, and geanylua doesn't install like other programs. Basically it's breaking out of fakeroot and trying to install directly into the file system. If possible, could someone look into having this code compile like other programs so it can be generically packaged? All other plug-ins in current subversion build fine. By the way, is this a good place to file bug reports and enhancement requests?

[Geany] Wanted: Maintainers for GeanyLua and GeanyGDB plugins

Hey, as some of you might noticed, the author of the both great plugins, GeanyLua and GeanyGDB, doesn't have time anymore to maintain them and so Nick and I did some few API changes in the past but we both can't and don't want to spend more work on the plugins. So, we are looking for new maintainers who keep the plugins uptodate and maybe even improve them further although both are in a good shape currently. Especially creating releases for the plugins from time to time and providing tarballs would be a great thing to make it more easy for users to use them. [Geany] Question on installing LUA plugin for geany

Dear all, I started working with geany a few days ago. Target was to have a good editor for "R" that can be enhanced to be a small IDE (Tried to achieve that also with eclipse/statet, wine/tinn-r, bluefish, all failed for different reasons). As "R" can be started in the integrated terminal the only task remaining is to be able to copy some pieces of texts down into the terminal (in a semi-automated way). I wanted to make use of LUA for that but was not able to install it. My system environment: Ubuntu 8.10 Geany 0.15 (downloaded from http://www.getdeb.net as recommended) and installed without issues using gdebi. I downloaded: http://download.geany.org/contrib/geanylua-0.7.0_patched.tar.gz (for geany 0.14 only - I know - but I would like to make use of "R" syntax highlighting in 0.15) Hardware: Dell inspiron 6400 notebook First finding: The directory /home/user/.geany was created but not the subdirectory /home/user/.geany/plugins as described in the installation guide of geanylua. I tried to get something precompiled for geanylua but failed installing it. Then I tried the scripts install-sh and install.sh but both asked me for directories/files unknown to me. Then I tried to run ./configure, make, make install but failed using ./configure. Error displayed: ----- checking how to hardcode library paths into programs... immediate checking for pkg-config... /usr/bin/pkg-config checking pkg-config is at least version 0.9.0... yes checking for GEANY... yes checking for lua5.1.pc... no checking for lua51.pc... no checking for lua-5.1.pc... no checking for lua.pc... no checking for LUA... configure: error: Package requirements (lua5.1 >= 5.1.2) were not met: No package 'lua5.1' found Consider adjusting the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable if you installed software in a non-standard prefix. Alternatively, you may set the environment variables LUA_CFLAGS and LUA_LIBS to avoid the need to call pkg-config. See the pkg-config man page for more details. ----- I installed the package lua5.1 via synaptic (installs version 5.1.3-1 so should work) and restartet ./config but failed again with the same error message. Any ideas, experiences how to proceed here? (Or will geanylua be integrated into one of the next releases of geany so that it will be installed automatically?) Thank you very much in advance! [Geany] php messages

Hello, I am new to Geany. I used SciTE until now but Geany is much more powerful. But there is a strange thing : when running a program, SciTE sends the message from the program (echo, print_r and errors) in the message window below the code. This does not happen in Geany, all this stuff is displayed only on the black sytem window and lost when you close it. SciTE also had a nice feature : double clicking on an error message would lead you directly to the right line. Geany has such a feature for the results of "find in files". So I cannot beleive that it does not do the same thing for the PHP messages and I think I have missed something. Does anyone knows what I have to do to get the messages from PHP in the message window of Geany ? Thanks a lot and sorry if it was a stupid question. Dysmas
