Dear translators and friends of Geany,
It's been a while .. but Geany 1.34 is on its final sprint. So we got a string freeze which is a good point to start updating translation.
In preparation I've just updated po-files for Geany core project inside github repositories and asking you whether you could update translations, review them or maybe add new languages.
I'd be very happy if you could send a patch, a pull request or single file with translation to either the geany-i18n mailing list or direct to me within the next two weeks so we can include it to the next release. Deadline will be 2018-12-15 24:00h CET.
To get most recent files you could just clone the repositories from Geany: https://github.com/geany/geany
This can be done e.g. with
git clone https://github.com/geany/geany.git
You can find daily updated po files at http://i18n.geany.org too, which includes some statistics.
If your language was translated by two or more in past, please double check directly with them or by pinging me, so we don't need to translate same things two or three times. Also please feel to ping me for every question or if you like to start a new translation for an unsupported language.
If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ping me directly via
IRC: #geany @freenode Jabber/XMPP: frlan@jabber.ccc.de or via Mail: look above or some of the mailing lists.
Thanks and happy translating Frank
I wanted to try the latest translation in the latest nightly version for Windows but it seems to fail: https://nightly.geany.org/
Seems like files are missing. I get dialog with missing libgcc_s_sjlj-1.dll and then if i put the file there it just says other file is missing. The bin folder only contains two files.
Can someone fix it so i can test the translation?
In file properties these to strings are used. What are the difference?
#: ../data/geany.glade.h:479 msgid "Modified:"
#: ../data/geany.glade.h:480 msgid "Changed:"
Could someone make a "Submit translation" section on https://www.geany.org/Contribute/Translators and move the instructions inside it to make it clear the ways to submit translations.

send the file to the translation mailing list or directly to Frank Lanitz
And fix the https://www.geany.org/Support/I18N link on https://i18n.geany.org/ that is blank.
Hi,
It's a UNIX thing. The "Changed" (ctime) is updated when the file metadata is changed (owner, permissions, etc.) or the contents of the file changed. The "Modified" (mtime) is only when the contents changed, but is not affected by changing metadata of the file.
I have no idea how you'd translate that though since they're synonyms even in English. The technical names are 'mtime', 'ctime' and 'atime', if that helps.
Regards, Matthew Brush

Hi Frank,
I attached the new file for pt_PT.
I also checked geany-plugins https://github.com/geany/geany-plugins, but there was no work to do, so...
Best regards, Pedro

Nope, sorry. The nightly builds no longer work natively on Windows. For details see https://github.com/geany/geany/issues/1979.
If time permits, I could provide a full installer on the weekend.

Thanks for the pointer. I added a note on creating PRs on https://www.geany.org/Contribute/Translators and renamed the section to "... adding or updating ...". IMO the rest of the information was already there.
And fix the https://www.geany.org/Support/I18N link on https://i18n.geany.org/ that is blank.
Done. Thanks.

Thanks.
Can we also make sure to get the latest versions of the other translation files in the share\locale[xx]\LC_MESSAGES\ folders before each release if that does not already happen.
gtk20.mo seem to be almost 8 years old for danish translation but maybe thats because Geany uses gtk2 and not gtk3?

The bundled GTK runtime as well as all other dependencies are taken from the MSYS2 repositories in their latest version. And so, yes, if gtk20.mo is that old, then it is because GTK2 is that old. Nothing we can do about.
