Hello. I hope I've reached the proper channels.
The current Japanese translation has no entry for "untitled" (ala Ctrl
+ N), leaving it as is. "新規ファイル" translates directly as "new file"
but is standard in the Ctrl + N context.
Provided the value for "untitled" doesn't appear in other contexts
which would be misleading (in other words, actual dependence upon the
literal meaning of "having no name"), I propose changing the value for
"untitled" to the more user-friendly "新規ファイル." I highly doubt any
Japanese-speaking users have encountered any confusion over
"untitled," but still--it feels good to uphold standards.
If, however, a literal meaning of "new file" would conflict with other
uses of the untitled entry, I suggest "編集中ファイル," literally "file being
operated upon."
Another possible translation, "未タイトル ("not yet titled")," does match
the literal meaning of "untitled" nicely--but it sounds kind of weird.
Were I the dictator of Geany translations, I'd just go with "新規ファイル"
and call it a day. You'll find the entry at line number 3,115 in file
geany/po/ja.po.
Thanks for your time, and thanks for translating Geany. As a very
satisfied user, I feel that everyone's doing a wonderful job.
Sincerely,
Grady Martin
Hello!
Well, I prefer to ask rather to make a stupid translation.
I found out that no one from Europe has translated parts, assembly &
steps except Estonians, Japanese & Spanish (Lucas, of course - I'm lucky
to understand some Spanish). The French translator just copied the
strings (as I normally do during work to remember the bad ones), other
have emptystrings. This is quickly checkable by using nano in terminal.
Inside it you press ^W and search for the string, it's the quickest way
at all.
As mentioned before, I understand some Spanish (thanks to Verano Azul TV
supercult series*& some books I've read). So, not to go to far OT,
let's purify the following:
1. What are "Parts" (#4501 in my case)? If I follow Lucas, thiswould be
"Deli" or "Delci" (small parts, I am aware of KDE component KParts, so
this would be something like it). This item probably
needs singular/plural. "Delci" is the one Ichoose due to
misunderstanding in the first string ("Deli" means also divide or split
in Slovenian, obeying sense).
2. Assembly I know very well (I programmed in it several years), but
some people probably don't. This is almost the lowest programming level
tool, if we don't like hex editors more (I used them too, if I had too).
This would translate to "Zbirnik".
3. "Steps" are also bothering a lot of people. I thing this is as in
use of step by step debugging, execution. I translated it "Koraki" for
this meaning. Another option is "Prehodi" if this is meant for passes of
compiler/preprocessor. This item probably needs singular/plural.
If this was helpful to anyone, you don't need to say thank you. Do
translate!
Cheers, Jože
P.S. If someone hadn't noticed the sl.po is in the thread "String Freeze
for Geany 1.23" to minimize traffic. Thanks.

Hi translators and friends of Geany,
And again we are in final line for another Geany release -- 1.23!
The list of changes done for this release is long (as usual) and so a
lot of string have changed or were added. I like to ask all translators
to check the translations.
I'd be very happy if you could send a patch, a pull request or single
file with translation to either the geany-i18n mailing list or direct
to me within the next two weeks so we can include it to the next
release. Deadline will be 2013-03-97.
To make it more easy for you I've already uploaded updated versions of
the po files to git master at github. You can either download the direct
via web or by cloning the repository from
https://github.com/geany/geany
This can be done e.g. with
git clone https://github.com/geany/geany.git
Also at http://i18n.geany.org/ are statistics and daily updated files
available.
As mentioned before, we are trying to have all translations complete by
2013-03-07.
If your language was translated by two or more in past, please double
check directly with them or by pinging me, so we don't need to
translate same things two or three times. Also please feel to ping me
for every question or if you like to start a new translation for an
unsupported language.
Thanks and happy translating
Frank
