Hello all,
Pedro according to http://i18n.geany.org/ and http://i18n.geany.org/plugins/
we have everything translated.
These statistics pages are usually the best place to check how things are.
Thanks a lot for your effort, at least the plugin translations were quite
behind for some time now and you were able to bring them up to speed!
It would be nice if we were able to move into something like Transifex,
like it is being discussed, in a near future, since that would really
improve collaboration...
Looking forward for this new release!!
Best regards,
André

Hi translators and friends of Geany,
As by Colomban's mail we are only two weeks away from upcoming, new,
amazing 1.25 release of Geany! It's scheduled for 2015-07-12.
In prior of that we have to ensure, all translations of Geany and it's
plugins are up to date and as complete as possible to get a great user
experience using Geany.
In preparation of that I've update po-files for Geany core as well as
the geany-plugins project inside github repositories and asking you
whether you could update translations, review them or maybe add new
ones.
I'd be very happy if you could send a patch, a pull request or single
file with translation to either the geany-i18n mailing list or direct
to me within the next two weeks so we can include it to the next
release. Deadline will be 2015-07-11 CEST.
To get most recent files you could just clone the repositories from
Geany: https://github.com/geany/geany
Geany-Plugins: https://github.com/geany/geany-plugins
This can be done e.g. with
git clone https://github.com/geany/geany.git
or for the plugins
git clone https://github.com/geany/geany-plugins.git
Also at http://i18n.geany.org or http://i18n.geany.org/plugins for
plugins are statistics and daily updated files available
If your language was translated by two or more in past, please double
check directly with them or by pinging me, so we don't need to
translate same things two or three times. Also please feel to ping me
for every question or if you like to start a new translation for an
unsupported language.
If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ping me directly via
IRC: geany @freenode
Jabber/XMPP: frlan(a)jabber.ccc.de
or via Mail: look above or some of the mailing lists.
@Plugin Maintainer: Please don't add new strings by now as they most
likely will be properly translated for next release.
Thanks and happy translating
Frank
Hi folks,
Felipe's mails remembered me on a huge point on my personal agenda for
translations of Geany: Kind of a webinterface where translations can be
done in a collaborative way without huge fuzzying around with git master
etc. We had this under discussion quiet a lot during the last 10 years
but nothing really happend -- my bad at least at some points ;)
So I like to ask: Is somebody of you having any experience with using,
administration, installation of any collaborative tool for translation
work?
What we currently have
----------------------
Translations are stored inside git within folder /po. This will most
likely not change, as this is kind of a pre-set value. However,
translations are generated by using tools like poedit oder Geany based
on GNU gettext and the geany[-plugins].pot-file inside po-directory.
This catalog is currently inside git master only update regularly in
front of an release. Also we do have scripts running for
http://i18n.geany.org and http://i18n.geany.org/plugins providing
updated po files based on a daily run -- but these are not synched to git.
In past we had trying to make some usage of launchpad of Ubuntu, but at
least I had the feeling it's not working very well.
What I hope we will have at some point
--------------------------------------
I pretty much looking for a webinterface, where I can update in a fast
and easy way translations. E.g. I see a typo (currently I'm doing it on
github editor but this might not work for everybody). Also I would like
to have access to some kind of a dictionary/translations catalog
enabling use same phrases around geany and geany-plugins as well as use
common translations, so the user is feeling "at home" somd kine of.
So anyone able to give input here?
Cheers,
Frank
Hi everyone!
We finally planned the release of Geany 1.25! This release will include
a lot of enhancements, including:
* Improved MacOS X support (Jiří Techet).
* Improved subprocess spawning, especially on Windows (Dimitar Zhekov).
* Huge tag management performance improvement (Jiří Techet).
* Show document-related dialogs embedded in the main window ("info
bars") (Matthew Brush & Thomas Martitz).
* Improved plugin manager dialog.
* Scintilla 3.5.6, including many highlighting fixes and improvements.
* More robust plugin API (Jiří Techet, Matthew Brush & Thomas Martitz).
* And many more! See http://git.geany.org/geany/tree/NEWS
Here is the schedule:
Fri. 2015-06-19 (evening)
String freeze (no more changes affecting translations)
Frank will post an additional announcement.
Sat. 2015-07-04
Feature freeze (only bugfixes)
Sun. 2015-07-12
Release!
In addition to the release, we decided to try and make time-based
releases every 4 months or so, to release more often and (among other
things) avoid 1+ year cycles like it was the case for 1.24 and 1.25.
As a result, 1.26 will be due around 2015-11-15.
Regards,
Colomban
