Geany-Plugins: Postponing release of 0.21 for 1 week

Hi folks, We had a short discussion yesterday and we came to point we decided to move the release by one week to weekend around 2011-10-22. The reasons are simple: We are not done yet. There are still a few things pending (translations, documentation updates, NEWS-files) in combination with lag of time to do a sprint. Sorry + stay tuned. Cheers, Frank

News item for version switch?

Hi, Does anyone think it might be good to mention the 0.21->1.22 version thing on the News part of geany.org homepage? It might make it more obvious for people who were depending on version numbers for packaging and stuff. The commit where the version got bumped didn't mention anything about the version scheme switch, so I supposed it could be hard to understand for people not on the ML. P.S. I will write it if no else wants to, just someone will need to put it in the website wiki for me. Cheers, Matthew Brush

Plugins README / web pages

Hi, when modifying, actually stealing from treebrowser :) a README file, I came to what if we make plugins webpages of identical format? They look a little bit careless now. If nobody minds I can do this for all plugins, treebrowser's one looks pretty suitable for me as a draft. E-gards, Alexander

ANN: Geany switched to Git

We're happy to announce Geany just switched from Subversion to Git as the Version Control System used for source code management. The primary source repository also moved from SourceForge to GitHub [1]. We think and hope this will make future development easier for everybody and improve collaboration with the community. The new Git repository can be found here : http://github.com/geany/geany. Of course the mirror on geany.org [2] is still available and now mirrors the official Git repository as well as does the repo.or.cz mirror [3]. You can follow the updated instructions on the Git page [4] to clone the new repository or fork it on GitHub [5]. A backup of the old SVN repository can still be found at http://download.geany.org/svn_backup/geany/ for anybody interested. Finally, we'd like to thank Jiří Techet for the wonderful work he did on converting the SVN repository to Git, and Matthew Brush for the great help on setting up the GitHub repository. @Matthew: That sounds like a good idea (after the release) @Lex: That makes sense. After this weekend I'll still have time, but it'll be more sparse. I'd like to be a part of it; so let me know what we/I need to do to get this going. Thanks! Josh

Git conversion completed

Hi, I've completed the conversion to git. It went quite smoothly because I did it already before and fortunately the checksums remained the same so I could reuse the grafts files I already had (to be sure, I checked all the entries one by one). The repository is here: https://github.com/techee/geany Please have a good look at it. It's no problem to change it now but it will be hard once people start using it. For this reason please resist the temptation and don't update your branches on top of the repository yet. It's safer to wait until everyone agrees the repository is alright. This isn't the final location for the repository so don't fork it for your work. Wait until Enrico pushes it into the final location. I've also created a separate repository containing sm and bs2 branches here: https://github.com/techee/sm-branch Lex has already mentioned he doesn't want to continue in bs2 branch so it's mostly Eugene's sm branch. Eugene, please tell me when you clone it so I can remove the repository. Finally, I've also pushed the repository which came as a result of svn2git without any modificatons: https://github.com/techee/geany-svn2git-unmodified This is meant for reference only in case you have a feeling that something is wrong with the official repository. Stop using SVN repository from now

Hi everyone, I'm just about to start the import from SVN into git so please stop using SVN from now otherwise you'll have to re-apply your commits into git afterwards. Cheers, Jiri
