I guess there isn't any real perfect solution to this, just to explain I see Programming/Scripting as being more user oriented than compiled/interpreted which is specific implementation oriented, and as has been said there can be lots of implementations.
Not that everyone might agree with the current division, I'm sure the folks at Ericsson who are programming telephone switches in Erlang might see it as more than a scripting language :-) But programming is too long already.
