The core developers don't show very much enthusiasm since a while *in general*. Well, that's not entirely true I admit, Colomban is doing a great job and Nick has been more active recently too. But my general feeling, that the community around is more active these days, remains.
But the question of whether to switch to git or not has to be decided by the very core developers (Enrico, Nick). Without their decision all our discussion is pointless because the switch just won't happen.
So direct question: Enrico, Nick, what's your opinion on the git switch? As Matthew said, it seems that it's possible to access a github repository both via svn and git so both the current workflow and git-based workflow should be possible. Of course I'll try to help with whatever I can during the migration.
