GeniusPaste, new plugin

Hi all, I'm writing a new plugin that allows to paste the code from Geany on a pastebin selected by the user. At the moment It supports five different pastebins, including the Geany's one at http://pastebin.geany.org/ The plugin also redirects the user to the pasted code opening a new browser tab. The sources can be found here: https://github.com/Enrix835/GeniusPaste All feedback is welcome :) If you consider this plugin interesting enough, I'd like to know what should I do to make it part of the Geany-Plugins project. plugin_add_toolbar_item() was my mistake

Hi, Actually, plugin_add_toolbar_item() works properly. Now, if there isn't enough space, the first item(s?) are placed in the drop-down toolbar menu, instead of the last. But that's probably a gtk+ thing. -- E-gards: Jimmy

Hi, According to it's description, $subject "Inserts a toolbar item before the Quit button, or after the previous plugin toolbar item. A separator is added on the first call to this function [...]". In reality, they are added like this: b c d e f | a Quit. Looking at $subject source, it's obvious that the 2nd and subsequent items are inserted before the separator created with the 1st item. There are two ways to fix this: Keep item counter, and insert the 2nd+ items at separator_position + counter + 1; we must count the removals as well. Always insert before Quit, which will reduce plugin_add_toolbar_item by about 1/3. Practically the two are identical, but the latter is much simpler. If you agree to it, I'll write a patch. Currently $subject is used by 4 plugins; they all add a single item. -- E-gards: Jimmy

Standard Tags files

Hi All, Nick has removed the instructions on re-building tags.c99 which is ok. But it made me think, should we provide a tags.c11 as well and how would it be best to choose between them? IIUC C11 adds a significant number of libraries, so extra tags could be good. But C11 is fairly new and I don't know how compliant the various libraries are yet, any comments from C11 users? gitignore needs updating?

Hi all, I just noticed git status mentions some untracked files # Untracked files: # (use "git add <file>..." to include in what will be committed) # # .lock-wafbuild # po/.intlcache and Matthew mentioned some more on IRC that appear from time to time. Have I just not been paying attention or has the build changed and we need to update .gitignore? Cheers Lex

Development of code re-formatting plugin

Hello, I am planning to develop a code re-formatting plugin for geany. I want it to be more on the lines of Notepad++'s C++ re-indent plugin which is pretty awesome. The feature could be something like : user selects bunch of text and clicks beautify or maybe it works on the whole file by default. Astyle <http://astyle.sourceforge.net/> is a small automatic formatter and released under LGPL. It is pretty small with loads of options. and supports C, C++, Java code. Can it be used for development of the plugin ? Any feedback / comments would be appreciated. Regards, -- Nayan Shah

Usage of plugin_help()

Hi folks, I want to discuss shortly the expected behavior of plugin_help()-function implemented by plugins. Therefore we do have at least 2.5 major behaviors: - Geany is calling a browser and opening a webpage with info (spellcheck plugin) - Its opening a message window with * a short info about plugin (e.g. geanyLaTeX) * a long help text about plugin (e.g. geanymacro) Question is, what do we really want to have behind that function? Small additions to stash

Hi, How about some $subject? Namely: Include stash_group_set_use_defaults() in plugin StashFuncs. I'm not using it any more, but it's a nice thing to have. New stash_group_free_strings(), which frees any strings and string arrays in a group. Much easier than to track them individually, as in Geany (though if someone is willing to track the keyfile_groups prefs free-s and remove them, a call may be included in configuration_finalize). -- E-gards: Jimmy

public ui_setup_open_button_callback

Hi, Currently UIUtilsFuncs contain ui_path_box_new(), so a file-chooser-dialog button can be created programatically in a plugin. But there's no ui_setup_open_button_callback(), so it's impossible to load such a button from a .glade file and setup it, as in Geany. geanyprj uses ui_path_box_new(), and other plugins (saveactions, spellcheck, debugger, ...) create file-chooser-dialog buttons manually, so they seem common. I'm writing a new plugin, and would prefer to use .glade for the interface as much as possible (and practical). -- E-gards: Jimmy
