Geany 0.18 (configure.in) has hidden depends on 'which' utility.

Just a normal build: but a strange configure error did occur. $$$ checking whether we are using the GNU C++ compiler... yes checking whether g++ accepts -g... yes checking dependency style of g++... gcc3 configure: error: No C++ compiler not found. Please install a C++ compiler. $$$ I found it's just a ``which`` in configure.in. QQQ # check for C++ compiler explicitly and fail if none is found, do this check # after AC_PROG_CXX has set the CXX environment variable which $CXX >/dev/null 2>&1 if test "x$?" != "x0"; then AC_MSG_ERROR([No C++ compiler not found. [PATCH] Fix cursor movement when toggling comments.

The attached patch fixes that the cursor jumps sometimes when toggling comments. The cause was slightly confused math. It also works fine with empty lines. There's another issue with comment toggling which I don't address: If the cursor is at in front of a comment block (e.g. ">....|/*", > is start of the line, . is a space, | is the cursor), toggle will uncomment the comment that comes before this one, i.e. a completely unrelated one. This is because the toggle logic goes back in the doc to find the comment marker. Fixing this appeared non-trivial to me. Best regards.

Edit/Save config files anomaly?

At revision 4720. I'm trying to understand the Tools->Configuration Files Edit/Save behavior, so that I can mimic that in a plugin that does the same thing for template files. When I select *snippets.conf* from the *Configuration Files*submenu, and there is no *snippets.conf* in *~/.config/geany (app->configdir)*, the default file from */usr/share/geany (app->datadir)* is obviously opened, but a Status message is issued indicating that the file is opened in *~/.config/geany (app->configdir)*. I take this to mean that the override convention (files in *configdir* overriding files of the same name in *datadir)* is being enforced in the editor. However, when I save the modified file, using either the *Save* icon or * File->Save*, I am put into a file save dialog, as if I had selected* File->Save As*. Is this the specified behavior? Having the *File->Save As* dialog appear when *Save* is specified is confusing and inconsistent. It seems to me that if the override convention is being enforced, selecting *Save* should write the modified file to the location reported in the Status window without question, and the save location dialog only offered specifically when *Save As* is selected. If the override convention is not being enforced in the editor, then the Status message is misleading. The manual does not refer specifically to this behavior, only to the fact that *.conf* can be manually copied to *configdir* and modified, and will then override the default file. I think it is more consistent to have the editor enforce the override file location policy by default on *Save*, allow *File->Save As *to be used as an option at the user's discretion, and state the override file location policy and the editor's enforcement of such clearly in the manual. - tony

Scintilla 2.03 Update

Hey guys, I just updated our Scintilla copy to its latest version 2.03. This brings some bugfixes but most importantly it adds a new feature: virtual spaces. There is a new preference in the Preferences dialog, Editor->Display tab to enable and disable it. There is another new feature called 'mulitple selections' in this Scintilla version though I didn't get it to work. If anyone is interested, read the Scintilla documentation about it and check how it works. There may be some regressions or other small problems with the update. If you find anything, just report it. [PATCH] Report lambdas as functions in Python tagmanager

Hi, Here's a small patch that adds support for lambdas in the Python tagmanager. What it does it report Python's lambdas as functions (with arguments) rather than as variables. Nested lambda are supported too. Attached is the patch (0001-lambda-support.diff) and a small python file that tests it (test.py). Regards, Colomban

This is because executes are saved in the filetypes file and the function filetypes_save_commands() starts at index 1 not 0 so no commands are saved for filetype none. Same happens for the filetype commands as well of course. Options are: 1. give filetypes none an extension (currently NULL) and let it save 2. make filetype and execute rows of the dialog insensitive if the filetype is none I favour option 1 since filetype none is a valid filetype (you can set it from the document menu) so why can't a user define commands for a filetype that Geany doesn't understand yet. Example use case is editing the test file for the domain specific language they are developing the compiler/interpretor for. Cheers Lex

treebrowser plugin

Hello all, just will post remaked source of treebrowser plugin, any bug reports and idea are welcome. Now i have problems with writing/reading an config options (just don`t know how to start, there is no integrated APIs for this) It will be really nice and useful if there are function in geany to write configs may be somethink like this gboolean plugin_option_set(gchar *plugin, gchar *key, gchar *type, gpointer *val); gboolean plugin_option_get(gchar *plugin, gchar *key, gpointer val); I was trying to write but without any success, will try again :) However, the plugin had no configuration dialog yet, it is really early for such function i am thinking about the logic yet, and I know the function 'treebrowser_browse' is really big junk now, but doesn`t matter, te plugin is in development status :)
