One reason was, that I like to name programs like girls ;-).
Another reason was, that I thought of a genie in a bottle (therefore
the logo) and a genie in a bottle is something which fulfils your
desires and that is what Geany should do.

Ok, Geany != Genie, but I just like the spelling of Geany more than
Genie.
