Geany 0.16 is depending on Gtk 2.8.x. I've got current svn version
running on Xubuntu 8.04.2. If there is no suitable package avaialble,
maybe you can compile it on your own:

There is a basic autocompletion support inside 0.16. I guess it was
introduced with 0.15 but I'm to lazy to look it up. Anyway, from my
point of view and my few lines of Python code I'm writing it's
sufficient.
