Is there a way to force Geany to open ANY file it doesn't recognize as plain text or ASCII? I don't care for syntax on some of the files, I just want to see the raw contents. NotePad++ didn't have any issue in opening whatever and displaying it (even binary files) so can Geany do that?

Geany 2.0 comes with a few broken colour scheme templates. Look at the brace_good line in the following screenshot, you will see a typo where there's a comma instead of a semicolon:
<img width="1488" alt="282243403-bd321a08-adc3-461b-807a-145057b4bb9e" src="https://github.com/geany/geany-themes/assets/13210399/9ee385b4-8a8a-4e6f-b5…">
When I fix that line, it works properly and braces are highlighted, otherwise (by default) they're black on dark gray, so the highlighting is almost completely unnoticeable.
Please fix your schemes, the line should be reading:
brace_good=pro_orange;pro_selection_background;true;false
Make sure to also check the light scheme from the same name as it contains the same typo! ;-)

Geany 1.38, 2.0
In the editor right click menu, the editing functions (move line, comment line etc) act on the line with the caret on it, not the line clicked on. But the inserts (date, comment etc) act where the click happens.
This inconsistency is a footgun waiting to shoot, thankfully undo is available.
I can see why it happens, the things that are caret related are copies of normal menu items, which have no click position, only the caret. Maybe its as simple as right click moving the caret to the click position before calling the normal menu item.

Might be related to or even a duplicate of geany/geany#885 but I could not figure it out. I'm new to Geany.

If it means anything, I'm currently using the "Kary Pro Colors - Bare Dark" scheme.

Currently, the only ways to change the folding is:
- toggle current fold
- fold all
- unfold all
For files with many nodes (fold points) and deep levels of children nodes, it would be great to have commands for efficient navigation of the hierarchical structure , jumping from node to node and expanding/collapsing them as following:
* 1)) command for folding current node and moving into parent node. After repeated invokation, it will eventually fold the greatest ancestor, of level 0.
* 2)) an opposite command, for unfolding current node and moving into Ist child node. After repeated invokation, it will eventually unfold the Ist path towards a leaf in the tree.
* 3)) command to move to next sibling node
* 4)) command to move to previous sibling node
*
These 4 commands would mirror how the navigation is possible in many file managers' tree view of folders, often with the arrow keys (right/left to collapse/expand, and up/down to jump through sibling nodes).
In addition, the following 2 commands would be useful for fast (but controlled) expansion/collapsing at whole document level:
* 5)) command to fold current node and all nodes of same level as current node, AND move cursor to parent of current node. With repeated invokation, it will fold upwards all nodes in file, untill only nodes of level 0 are visible.
* 6)) opposite command to unfold current node and all nodes of same level as current node, AND move cursor to Ist child of current node. With repeated invokation, it will unfold downwards the nodes in file, untill nodes at the level of the leaf encountered on Ist path from the starting node.
*
These 2 commands would be more useful, IMO, than the fixed-level fold/unfold of all nodes that other editors provide (for ex , Notepad++ ).

The current highlighting of dark blue (as opposed to black when not selected) is very difficult for me to see I imagine there's something I can edit, but there's nothing in the documentation and playing with brace_good in filetypescommon didn't appear to achieve much

Hello everyone,
There is a problem while trying to use the integrated terminal. I have bash as shell. When using 'git push' or 'git pull,' I get an error message:
Bad owner or permissions on /etc/ssh/ssh_config.d/50-redhat.conf
fatal: Could not read from remote repository.
When I use git status it seems to read the remote repository, although I have GitHub return:
On branch main
Your branch is up to date with 'origin/main'.
When in fact it's not 'up to date'
I'm using Fedora Linux 39 Silverblue with Geany 2.0
All permissions are correct in my .ssh folders and the files within that folder. Everything works using external terminal, or other code editors. I prefer to use Geany.
Any suggestions?

Steps to reproduce:
1. create a new file using the tree browser
2. give the file a name
3. Try editing the file
4. Try saving.
OS: Windows 10
doing a file->new file via geany works fine.
