[Geany-Users] Disable syntax highlighting in .sh files

By setting all synaptic elements = default, all syntax highlighting was removed.

You could try editing the filetype.sh file [styling] section
(Tools->Configuration files->Filetype configuration->scripting
languages->filetypes.sh) to map all syntactic elements to default
style.  Those lines are element=style so all should be =default.
Never tried it myself.
