Okay, that's good, it suggests pkg-config is working fine.  Now, just to
be sure, what does

$ PKG_CONFIG_PATH=/user/kklein/geany/1.33/lib/pkgconfig pkg-config
--cflags --libs geany

give you?  And similarly for glib.
