[Geany-Users] can't run local build on RHEL6

Not having been provided with a proper editor by the IT folks, I tried to
do a local build and install of Geany. I didn't do any funny stuff, just
unpacked the source tarball and ran

./configure --prefix=$HOME/bin/geany
make check
make install

All seemed well, but when I try to run Geany for real, I get the output

Can anyone make sense of what is going on, and what to do about it?

Thanks in advance
