I guess "Recent Files" means "recently opened", not "recently used" as 
Ken would like. For example if you focused a document (or edited at 
least), in theory, it's the most recently used file, but since it's 
already open and maybe for a long time, it would get bumped down the 
recent files list.

Suggest changing "Recent Files" menu item label to "Open Recent" like at 
least several programs here do. IIRC it was the default label on the 
GtkRecentAction that was wiped-out without replacement (AFAIK) in the 
famous Mass-Deprecations of 2013.

@Ken, just in case you didn't see it, you can increase the number of 
recently opened files show in the preferences dialog, it might be a 
workaround at least.
