[Geany] Column mode editing (rectangular / block selections)

I have found that compiz will sometimes mess with the ctl-alt-shift 
combos. Haven't run into it with Geany, but I have with other things.

So it could be an issue with
   Compiz
   nouveau driver
   nvidia driver
   other video drivers

and/or a combination of the above.

Believe me, I know how important column mode can be!! I can't live 
without it.
