You will need to build from source:
http://www.geany.org/manual/dev/index.html#source-compilation

Download & extract geany-0.14.tar.gz.

For Ubuntu I think you can get the source dependencies with:
apt-get install gtk2-dev

But you will also need build tools - maybe try the build-essential
package.
