[Geany] Changes in the build process

Hi,

I just committed some changes to improve the portability of Geany's
code[1]. Here all works still fine but it might I broke something on
another platform or another system. So, testing is needed especially on
non-Linux and non-Windows platforms.

@Shiv: could you test SVN r1961 on Solaris to verify it still compiles?
I removed the IS_COMPILER_GCC code as well as the gcc specific
compiler flags so it should just work.
