The problem was "introduced" in <a class="commit-link" data-hovercard-type="commit" data-hovercard-url="https://github.com/geany/geany/commit/f31899538d9cf548cecb8dcdd5fc2cb67893d832/hovercard" href="https://github.com/geany/geany/commit/f31899538d9cf548cecb8dcdd5fc2cb67893d832"><tt>f318995</tt></a>. It's 12 years ago and I don't remember what exactly I tried to fix and why today it is rather broken than fixed.</p>
<p>There are good chances that this change fixes the problem here but might raise another problem in some other case. Non-ASCII filenames, Geany, Windows and me are a bad combination :(.</p>
