<p><a href="https://github.com/perlycke" class="user-mention">@PerLycke</a> Thanks, that was it - I can reproduce it now. The very first time the file is edited and saved, it starts opening in the same instance. I suspect macOS does something similar to e.g. downloaded binaries where it warns users that they are about to run a file downloaded from the Internet and in the case of xml probably launches the associated application in a different way. I'll try to investigate what's going on.</p>
