<p>The requested feature is unlikely to be implemented in Geany since it's very language specific and so would require teaching Geany's code about all of Perl's operators (oh lord!), and those of all other languages.</p>
<p>It might be plausible if you could come up with a specification/algorithm for the behaviour more generally in terms of "words" and "white space" and such, which are not language-specific.</p>
<p>For example:</p>
