<p><code>’</code> is the typographic <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apostrophe">apostrophe</a>, and is technically valid (and even more accurate) than the typewriter one <code>'</code>.  But in practice it's less likely to be encountered in Geany I guess, because <code>'</code> is more common outside typesetting programs.</p>
