[Github-comments] [geany/geany] Markdown Front matter syntax highlighting (Issue #3128)

What is the best way to get YAML front matter syntax highlighting to work? I have tried adding the identifiers tag to the filetypes.markdown file but it doesn't appear to be picked up. Is this something that can be changed by adjusting some things in filetypes and the colorscheme?
