Except Geany invokes it as `sh` so it follows the sh rules.

Note that it isn't just a macos problem, there are many things installed as user on Linux, and Geany on Linux invoked from the desktop menus may not inherit any environment variables or paths, and there have been issues about that in the past IIRC.
