Among other useful information on [the Bugs page](https://www.geany.org/Support/Bugs):

>Please try to give us reliable instructions to reproduce the bug, so we can diagnose the cause. We also need:
> 1) The version number of Geany
> 2) The version number of GTK+ (can be printed with geany -V)
> 3) Your OS details

Also please specify whether you're using any kind of clipboard manager or experimental windowing server (ie. Wayland). Sounds a little like #1956
