Ah, okay, I see.
The per-document setting was disabled, enabling it gives now properly
wrapped documents.
New files, however, do not pick the global setting, i.e, their lines are
initially not wrapped.

I suggest to add a short note to the global options tooltip that there
exist the per-document setting, like the warning that the indentation
settings are overwritten by the project settings.
