Thank you for this, just tried it. So if someone is interested, here is the solution:

SETTING A DARK THEME FOR GEANY (on LXQT)
========================================
HOME BUTTON > Preferences > LXQt settings > Appearance
On the Widget Style tab the GTK 2 and GTK 3 themes are set to "Arc-Darker" by default. Setting them to "Arc-Dark" does the trick.
Then all you need is to restart Geany. And again - this sets the Geany theme, but not the editor theme.

The editor themes are here: https://www.geany.org/download/themes/ so one could choose any dark theme.

Hello! How to change the Geany side bar and status bar colors? Is there a way at all?

I created myself a dark theme, but still - the side bar and the status bar have bright white background :(

I am on LXQT, my theme is dark, but maybe Geany uses the current Gnome colors? - still - is there a way?

Correct, Geany is a GTK application, it uses the GTK theme.  I don't know Lxqt, but some distros can set the GTK theme to match the Qt one, eg https://manual.lubuntu.me/lts/3/3.2/3.2.2/appearance.html.

Cheers
Lex

Thanks!
