I'm using Geany 1.23.1 on Lubuntu 13.10. My question is this: if I want to make changes to geany.gtkrc must these changes be done to /usr/share/geany/geany.gtkrc or can I copy this file over to somewhere in my home and edit that copied file? 

I copied the file to ~/.config/geany but any changes I make there are ineffective.
