Unlikely, run Geany with `-p` to load no plugins and try.
Use one of the bash scripts from this repository and create an exact recipe for reproducing.
Which keyboard layout? Did you try with a different layout (e.g. US English, default variant)? Does it work if you press caret-caret or caret-space? Does it work in other programs?
